Guest
Take one 1200XL think of a reasonable price, double it, then factor in the box/packaging to double the price again.. so what if the box was all ripped and torn? halve the price right? nah, double it again....hehehehe gotta love the guy's description of "new in box" - how many "new things" come in torn boxes? enjoy this fella's attempt at humour: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-in-box-Vintage-Atari-1200XL-Home-Computer-In-original-Box-one-of-a-kind-/321752420074?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae9f04eea Edited May 11, 2015 by Guest
pixelmischief
One wonders what people like this are smoking, and how one may also obtain such fine hallucinogens.
Justin Payne
It does say, "One of a kind". Have you checked to make sure this isn't the only 1200xl left in the world? That would make that statement true AND warrant that price.
Kyle22
I just thanked him for providing quality entertainment, and included a link to this thread. I also told him that it must be packed with cocaine inside for that price. Edited May 11, 2015 by Kyle22
snicklin
The Australian dollar import charges are about the right price for the machine itself: Import charges: $187.02 (amount confirmed at checkout)
AtariGeezer
I see that "New in the Box" BS a lot. Just because the original buyer kept the original packaging and stored it away in the same way they bought it, doesn't mean it's new, it just shows it was cared for... I still have 6 810's and all of my ST stuff stored the same way (Not to mention all the NIB stuff I've bought in the past 5 years)... adamchevy
I once talked to a seller on eBay for a few weeks about his ridiculous pricing. He got pissed and complained to eBay about me contacting him a few times. EBay told me to leave the seller alone and if it continued they would cancel my account. I should be the richest man in the world.

I have a "one of a kind" '95 Civic I might let go to a collector for the right price... after I get another Michigan winter or two out of it!
Justin Payne
I love this so much that I have to quote it. I didn't take the computer out of the plastic because I wanted you to be the first. 100% satisfaction guaranteed. This should be in the Smithsonian. The Smithsonian, eh? That deserves the Photoshop treatment. http://1drv.ms/1F3iy6M
ACML
I love the "never been opened" part. Wow, real rocket scientist here, it was never opened, but I let my two year old tear the box open to inspect the goods. This is like the guy that calls every month with a foreign accent to tell my computer contacted him and he can help fix my computer. At least with the latter scam there is always someone gullible enough to provide credit information so he can fix their Windows issues. I do believe him that it was never used, as this guy obviously couldn't find his rear end with two hands and a flashlight. Kyle22
He emailed me back and basically said he's accepting offers.
Justin Payne
Did you want to try to offer him something reasonable just to see what he says? I really think the experience of his price expectation is enough reward but sometimes I just want to know where there head is at when they think things are worth that much. People on my local Craigslist are just nuts with the prices they are asking for very common 2600 carts. I guess it never hurts to ask but there is a point where someone should just say, "Come on!!".
