+Nathan Strum
I tried (repeatedly, and with different browsers - Safari, Chrome and Firefox) uploading a new avatar, and the forum software wouldn't show the new image. It seemed to upload it, but never showed a preview, and never saved it. So I tried removing the old one, which worked, but now I can't get anything to upload. So I'm stuck with the grey Yar thing. Unvision must have the guys who work on their blog software doing avatar support now.
Albert
You're not the first person to report this in the last 24 hours. Will take a look at this today. ..Al

Albert
I can reproduce this behavior on my end as well. Will file a support ticket if I can't figure it out myself.
Albert
Looks like a recent security patch broke this. I have submitted a support ticket. ..Al

+Nathan Strum
If you upload your avatar somewhere online and link to it, that works. But I'm sure they'll break that in the next update.
Albert
I hope to have the forum upgraded next weekend, at which point the avatar uploading issue should be fixed. Invision has identified the issue that caused the previous upgrade attempt to fail, so I'm going to work on getting the upgrade to work on a mirror copy of the forum, and once that works, I will then upgrade the live forum. In the meantime, as Nathan pointed out, if you upload your avatar to an off-site location, you can then point the forum to that URL and it will update your avatar. Using a site such as imgur will work fine for this purpose. Or you can send the avatar to me and I will stick it on AtariAge.com, give you an URL, and you can then update it that way. I'm eager to get the forum upgraded, as several issues will be fixed, and it better positions me to upgrade to the new 4.x software once that has sufficiently matured. ..Al

+frankodragon
I had the same problem updating mine. I just uploaded the image to my gallery and copy/pasted the Image Link from Options>Share Links.

+Defender_2600
Hi Albert, it seems that it is not possible to properly upload a simple GIF image as Avatar, you do not get the Avatar _animated_ .I also tried with some URL but are not accepted. I also tried with some URL but are not accepted. I had disabled animated gifs as I sometimes find them to be quite distracting, but I have removed this restriction for now. I reserve the right to remove any animated avatars that are too obnoxious. Can you try uploading it again? ..Al
