Opry99er
Been studying some on USB I/O protocols... I am having some difficulty searching for threads on here today from my mobile for whatever reason, so if this has been discussed at length, I would appreciate a link to the thread. The serial bus architecture and data packet delivery system of the USB interface is fairly simple, so my question concerns interfacing, primarily. Could a USB port be feasibly integrated into a RAMDisk-type board for use with a USB drive? I have been referencing the EA manual and Thierry's pages for info on CRU and PAB requirements and it seems like it should be possible to at least load FROM a USB drive into the system. (Again, if this has been covered, apologies) IIRC, Tursi did a USB cartridge of some sort... Linux IIRC. I know far less about I/O protocols and interfacing than most of you on here, but I am learning. Would it be possible to format a USB card in such a way that plugging it into a theoretical RAMDisk-type card would allow reading AND writing to and from the device? My initial thoughts were of an rs232 piggyback connection, but with no term program running on-board the device, our current software would not know what to do with it. Links to info would be appreciated... Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/238375-usb-io/ Share on other sites
+arcadeshopper
there is a usb card as well.. no dsr for it though http://www.unige.ch/medecine/nouspikel/ti99/usb.htm Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/238375-usb-io/#findComment-3238713 Share on other sites
+OLD CS1
So, essentially using a FAT-formatted USB stick as the "RAM" for a RAM disk? Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/238375-usb-io/#findComment-3238889 Share on other sites
Opry99er
What I was thinking was more like a standard RAMDisk that is mapped in such a way that would expect data packets in a certain order to be passed via a USB port into physical RAM chips/addresses on the card. Basically a big "copy". Does that make any sense? I do not have the vocabulary yet.
