  1. 1. If a new TI/Geneve supported BBS came online would you call it via Telnet?

I am thinking of throwing up a new BBS accessible via Telnet to support the TI-99/4A / Geneve 9640 computers.

I am not thinking of putting it up on actual real TI hardware though as my space is limited and moving things around.

I would be dedicated for TI/Geneve community, but of course all would be allowed to call.

What are your thoughts, would you call it even though it is not on a real TI ?

It would support 40/80 column text and 80 column ANSI, Files messages, etc and more.

Would like the input before i invest the time to design all the themes.

Thanks,

Chris

This is a hard message for me to write, because I've always believed in the motto, "The more the merrier", but unfortunately I had to vote maybe, only because I'm just not sure I'd personally be able to split my time any further. I try to call Heatwave at least once a day with R.I., but honestly, that's pretty much the ONLY BBS I currently call.

I know the feeling,

As it is sometimes maybe too expensive to dialup via telephone to the States, i.e. here from Germany.

I am thinking about running an european BBS here on a Geneve, for classic dial-in via telephone,

for the freaks :) but almost for coupler- and modem-testing purposes.

But at the moment I miss the time, and a 2nd Geneve for that purpose.

I already thought about using a PC or VM for that, but this is not the sense, not my intention....

I would love the challenge of assembling a perfect and stable system, and to get all of that running good.

so, maybe time will tell.

You could always do what heatwave does. He runs the BBS via TELNET then he uses SEXPOTS to connect a modem and when a connection happens on the modem it telnets over to the BBS.

he can answer the ins and outs of it. This way you could host both on the same system.

If there is a bbs you want to dial in with a modem in the states let me know and I'll add it to dialout on thekeep.net. you can telnet there, then login, type /go dialout and then d then pick it off the list.. D1 get's you hidden reef for instance.. telnet is free/easy
