fujidude
What is the difference? Not all sources of ROMs make a distinction, and I have been able to "plug" .rom dumps of cartridges just fine into emulators like Altirra as cartridges. I do notice though, that some sites provide both a .rom and a .car for a dump of a cartridge. What's the difference, when should each be used and why? flashjazzcat
The .CAR files include a header describing the cartridge mapping. ROM files are just raw dumps without any header information, which sometimes cause the emulator to ask you which banking scheme to use. fujidude
I suspected that was the difference, but I hadn't come across a .car format documented yet. Thanks for the info.
