how much it would cost to get every console not including clones/pong consoles boxed or loose?. Well I was bored so for fun I calculated from recent(this year) sold Ebay auctions and such and it comes to $16094 boxed and $10278 loose. The current price may be off or overpriced by a few hundreds and Wii/PS3/X360 and up are not added but it still should be close to an accurate price. You can look at the prices and if you see a price wrong(too high or too low) please do tell or better yet change it http://anotepad.com/notes/5164305. I guess if someone wanted to attempt to buy then all, they could get say 1 console a month and in 4 years, you'll be almost halfway there...either way it's nice for us to see what we will never have

I don't think I've ever actually asked myself that question; naturally, that leads to these important metrics:

How much would it have cost if you bought each one new upon release?

What would be the very lowest you could possibly spend if you waited for the "right deal" and were willing to travel anywhere to find it?

How much table square footage would be required to set up all these systems?

...and how many people actually have a living room big enough?

If you had a party and invited all your friends over to play (say, from 6pm to midnight), how many kwh of electricity would you use that evening? How much beer and soda would you need to supply? Would you regret it?

I have maybe 1/3 total of all systems released (only counting actual USA releases) and having them all hooked up does take up fair amount of space. Vectrex and Virtualboy are the only 2 portable systems I have that are not hand-held and are stored elsewhere. The games aren't an issue because most of them are using flash cart or mods so I am not storing 10,000 game carts, just a dozen carts.

Gamester81 is the only one I know of that has every gaming console plus the clones. As for me. I just want the consoles that I want with great games and not a museum. I have about 30 and am happy with my collection. I knew it had to be in the 5 figures dollar wise for an entire console collection for what it's worth. Also my modded xbox covers a few consoles I don't have as I have the Odyssey 2, Vectrex, and Neo Geo, and every handheld emulators.

Nice stats, but I have a few questions:

1. Are the listed prices averages, maximum or minimum amounts you found?

2. Have you counted both tested working, "untested" and known broken systems?

3. Have you extrapolated the total for the systems you never saw for sale, or do the sums only cover actual prices?

4. Which version of the Mega Drive is that, the European or Japanese? You also have the Sega Genesis model 2 listed twice.

I thought the Atari 2600JR was the cheapest of all 2600 models and that a loose Atari 2800 would set you back a bit more than $80, but I'll assume those numbers are correct. Perhaps that was a broken one and thus sold for not that much money.

1.it depends. For most of the consoles, I calculated the averages from recent Ebay sold prices this year, but for rare ones like the Epoch Super Cassette Vision where very few are on Ebay, I took the lowest buy it now price, which may or may not be overpriced as it could be the seller thinking "oh it's really rare to find so I'd say this is a fair price" when it's in reality, $100 less that what you can find one on say a forum or such.

2. No, I only counted working prices although I can count those prices which I would guess would be slightly harder to calculate

3. As of now the total only includes the consoles I could find prices for. The consoles with no prices are just there so I can fill in the prices at a later time.

4. I only added the Japanese version because if I added the European version, that would mean I would have to add the different versions of the Mega Drive(and other consoles) around the world and the 1292 APVS(Advanced Programmable Video System)/ Interton VC4000 line of consoles has 29 different versions around the world(Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Argentina, New Zealand, Italy and France) :o and yeah, one was supposed to be the model 1 and the other, the model 2 but it is fixed now.

About the 2800, I dunno where I got that price from. I thought I got it from looking at previous sold 2800's from this year but I can only find one now and that sold for $102.50. Shipping was $50 but I didn't include shipping prices in the list although maybe I should...Also I didn't think the 2600 sold for that much so for the 2600, I just guessed on a fair price(This was only for say 6-7 consoles and they were the common systems) so yeah I'll have to change the 2600's price and find a price for the 2800.What do you think is a fair price for a loose one and a boxed one in really good condition?

I've got no real idea what a 2800 would sell for, but $102 for the loose one (?) sounds good. As for the different 2600 models, there should be data of relative rarity on this forum, even if not always updated prices. I might be wrong, and the JR model could be less common/more desirable than say a Vader, in which the relative valuation would hold.

Shipping should always be excluded, since a system sold in your neighbourhood shouldn't be worth less than if you found it overseas and had to factor in shipping costs and other expenses.

Makes sense not to add shipping to the list...and can you believe that a Nes is over $100 these days? :o
