Rybags
This zombie corpse of lawyers needs to just go away, forever. Pretty much. Modern day Atari is a bit like a nightmare version of "Weekend at Bernies".
Keatah
But Doug, if you are watching, there's a community who would put money towards a kickstarter instantly.. I wouldn't want to bother with kickstarter. I would just commission it upfront and be done and done.
Mclaneinc
After seeing that kickstarter of David Cranes where he wanted a mere $900,000...gulp.. And the best he could put up was a flash animation that was er not so good.. I know its THE David Crane but his fans also know he's produced some shockers too... Keatah
I take each game on its own merit. The franchise name and author have little influence. And more than not, videogames are one-hit-wonders. Maybe two or three at best in some cases. On the other hand, certain corporate names ware/are associated with great games. And a corporate brand was something you could count on to the point of purchasing blindly.
everklear
Star Raiders can be as cheap as it likes. 'Atari' aren't getting a penny from me. In fact, I think the best thing that could happen for all of us is if they finally gave up, went bankrupt (again, lol) and stayed dead. This zombie corpse of lawyers needs to just go away, forever. Amen. After what they did to Jeff Minter over TxK, the faster they dry up and blow away the better.
kiwilove
Talk is cheap. I like to see it as being more of a community project - in which if there are the persons interested in it? It's simply up to them to do something with it. Being open source - it could spawn different versions of it - and also serve as a tutorial for others - not yet capable of contributing. But like anything of this nature - the whole project could simply go nowhere - not make any progress at all. Of course - it'll be that only a few people would end up doing all or most of the work.
