9-Pin male to female converter?

I was at a thrift store yesterday and I picked up a controller made by a toy company named Rokenbok. When I got home, I went to put it in the Genesis to see if it would work, but then I noticed that I completely overlooked that the plug is a male 9-pin, not female. I was looking at male to female converters, but most of them looked to be screw-ins, not made for the Genesis. I'm posting from mobile so I can't paste a picture, but if it would help you see if it was worth the hassle to get a converter, look up 'Rokenbok Sega Genesis controller' on Google Images. Would this more than likely end up working? Because it is a comfortable controller.

Based on the pictures, it doesn't look like it's made for the Sega Genesis. Does it say "for use on sega.." etc? Looks like a remote to some toy.

 

Also, it's probably not worth finding a converter because I'm sure the pinouts are completely different.

i checked amazon for rokenbok controllers and none of them said they worked with the genesis. this is a remote to a toy and not for use with the genesis.

It does not work onto a Sega Genesis. Wiring it to a Male DB9 Connector (and plugging it into your Genesis) will only damage your console..

also be wary of any really light weight unmarked controllers that have 9 pin plugs that are really for nes plug and play units there is even one that looks just like a genesis controller

 

 

rokenbok is an activity center totally incompatable

Those lightweight controllers can be easily wired up to a cut-off cord of an NES controller if you like the idea of using them to play your NES games.
