82-T/A
Hey man, this is America, and I'm all about capitalism. But for the sake of it... did you buy these to sell and scalp, or did you buy them to collect and decide you no longer wanted them? I see you have both Elansar, and also Another World for sale for $200 bucks also: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Another-World-Video-Game-for-Atari-Jaguar-Console-Cartridge-Homebrew-RARE/151776877078
Hyper_Eye
Tursi is a known and respected member of the community. That's especially so when you consider he is one of the co-creators of the Skunkboard. Questioning his motives in this forum will probably result in a degree of backlash. Just a heads up.
Rick Dangerous
I bet that Another World will fetch a pretty penny like battlesphere money.. Edited August 13, 2015 by travistouchdown
sirlynxalot
I beat Elansar recently (on cartridge) and have considered selling it on one day. I think I'll hang on to it for the moment, it's a really cool piece of the collection, a great game, and unusual to have this sort of game on a cartridge. Tursi
But for the sake of it... Because it wouldn't be a thread in the Jaguar forum without a burn did you buy these to sell and scalp, or did you buy them to collect and decide you no longer wanted them? Both my purchases are from the initial offerings, and I've had them quite a long time. (I didn't even know Another World did a new run until yesterday ). If that's scalping, then so be it, but I bet they're starting at half the price most will. I don't buy /anything/ to collect. Collecting is lame. Play it or don't. If it's just going to sit on a shelf, then just buy an empty box and let someone else have it. But yeah, I'll be ditching most of my (miniscule) collection. The only thing Jag I'm keeping is one console and one Skunkboard (maybe two for nostalgia), to throw in a cabinet and run Tempest 2000 Arcade, if I ever finish it.
Rick Dangerous
Collecting is lame. Play it or don't. I respectfully disagree with the first statement, but agree with your point on the second I don't see the point in owning something you will NEVER play; unless it has some historical significance and/or is no longer functional. Works for me! At no time did I intend the the statements to be separated, but neither do I intend to shape the behavior of others. I am not a role model! Tursi
Certainly not with that starting price. EBay is how you choose your role models? I didn't set the price or the auction, but, you've never been very good at reading.

sh3-rg
you've never been very good at reading. meoooow, someone rubbed this kitty the wrong way said it with a wink, makes it OK a pedant might argue that you should not claim that he's never been very good at reading as it could be an issue of comprehension or it could just be wilful ignorance either way this is nested in spoiler tags because it's not at all important to this thread a thread that should have been posted to the marketplace forum not the jaguar one but maybe you've never been very good at forum guidelines

Define "NEVER" play? Collections, of any kind, generally get used in some fashion. Most people with car collections will drive them once in a while. It's the fun of owning them and looking at them, and occasionally driving them. I used to have a lot of video games, but eventually got rid of maybe 75-80% of my stuff just because I started feeling like my collection was controlling me, rather than me controlling it. I do have a pretty complete Jaguar collection (minus Battlesphere). I keep all the Jag games in a Tupperware container, and have all the original boxes collapsed with manuals and white cartridge holder inserts... all flattened and carefully put into a larger box. So I have a collection that I play. The reality is... I just don't get a lot of time to play games anymore.

Tursi
I didn't realize that auctions were no longer discussed in the main forum - that's my bad. I mis-remembered that auctions, especially of homebrew, often ended up in the main forums for discussion and the sake of people who don't look in the auction forum (where I've already posted). So I figured I'd pre-empt that. As for the smilies, I use them all the time, don't go reading too much into it. Please feel free to delete this thread then. The reality is... you're TOTALLY justified in selling whatever you want, for whatever price you think you can get... and we shouldn't be upset by it. That said... in the world in which we live in today, it seems unfair to those who cannot buy them because they're unavailable. Which is hilarious coming from me because I'm hard-core conservative and totally against socialism (to each their need / nonsense). I also already have all of those games (including your flash-cart). But, when there is the impression that someone is buying a limited commodity from a fan-based community, for the sole purpose of making money, that makes people mad... not saying you're doing that, but that is why I asked. Orion_
Here is a video: http://onorisoft.free.fr/retroshop/elansar_jagcd.htm (and if you have Jaguar CD, you might take the CD version, which is cheaper) in fact, I guess Elansar CD + a Jaguar CD unit, might be cheaper than the cartridge ebay price .. (+ you can have the sequel Philia which is CD only) Edited August 18, 2015 by Orion_

Rick Dangerous
I bet that Another World will fetch a pretty penny like battlesphere money.. Auction finals: Elansar $0, 0 bids, Another World $616.99, 5 bids. WOW! Called it. That would never make sense to me. The game is available on too many other systems. Even $100 is barely justifiable. Someone's been inhaling the Jag fumes deeply.
sh3-rg
At least two of them... and for a game in active production... breathe it in!
