Intv homebrew complaint thread

What I plan on doing is selling all of my "second copies" of previously purchased Intellivision homebrew games on eBay. It's something that Rev's all-too-frequent homebrew releases is forcing me to do.

I think this could be a much better version of the 11th way to save money that you posted:
11(rev. b) sell the extra copies on eBay to get the money that will allow you buy the new releases

11. STOP buying Intellivision HomeBrews (FTFY.)

Get FUCKING REAL! Rev isn't forcing you to do anything. There are hundreds of things you can do to get funds for buying 2 of every release, many have been given above.

Stop the pity party because:

No-One-Has-Sympathy-For-Your-Issue when you refuse to help yourself. You are probably the same type of person that complains about their shitty job all the time but never bothers to look for another...

I'm normally pretty reserved and calm in forums, but your constant complaining in threads created by Rev to announce new released games is annoying and POINTLESS. At this point the number of responses to your whining probably outweighs any discussion of the game itself, even more aggravating since it is an incredible game!

Eric, man, I have some sympathy for your basic point -- it's true that the Intellivision set has always had the virtue of being completable by "ordinary folks", without needing the really big bucks. Limited-duration homebrew releases do start to pull us away from that, since it's sometimes (not always) either "buy it RIGHT NOW" or pay 5x as much on Ebay later.

But you're not winning any points for style here, and have crossed the line from good-natured banter to irritating whining. And when you mentioned that you're already buying two of everything, you really lost me: if you were really hurting for cash, you'd just buy one, just as I've always done (I bought two Sydney Hunters back when it was a "bluer" game, but that's about it).

Besides, why pick on Rev, of all people? His games are relatively inexpensive, and he ain't doing it for the profit.

But in the early days of Intellivision homebrew collecting, if we really wanted to, we COULD have it all. Rev is one of the people who is now changing that.

In the old days the communication was much more worse. That's the reason why I don't have LoL and RR.

And btw. the most Rev releases are just games you probably already own as a ROM (that may change now, the old unreleased games are running out).

True. At that time there was not a forum for the Intellivisionaries. Only a couple of Google groups (especially for programmers) and everything worked mostly through personal contacts.

I've never really figured out if Eric was truly annoyed or if all this is just playful banter ... if it's not "playful banter", then it just needs to stop.

Personally, I fought with the addiction to own every game and won. I've started to become more selective about what I buy. While I have pride and enjoy seeing them on my shelf, I have found that my time to play them is getting less and less.

There are some that I'll buy immediately (Hello, Defender of the Crown) and others I may sit back and wait or never buy (Number Jumble). We'll see where the finances take me.

If it makes anyone feel better, another game by Team Revolution probably won't be out until late spring or early summer.

Plus only like 2 more 'legacy' titles ill do. And that's it for old mattel games. Everything after that will be a port/clone or even original.

Some cool stuff in the pipeline. ;-)

Thanks to everyone.

Untrue. I am simply expressing my opinion, as I have stated before. And if somebody says something to me that warrants a reply, then I'll reply.

Untrue.

If you were simply expressing your opinion, you would have brought this point up a maximum of three times. After realizing that the point is not getting traction here, you would have moved on to implementing the actions you have stated you would do.

A line has been crossed and left in the dust. Your behavior is now somewhere between being a pest to trolling. Some people who might have been sympathetic to your cause are alienated because they don't want to be associated with this kind of behavior. This thread is supposed to be about the Rev's new Missile Domination game.

If you want a long discussion on your topic, start a new thread. Don't hijack other threads for your personal agenda.

It doesn't make it right, though.

This statement is crazy. So what you're saying is that you think you should be able to determine/control the actions of others?

I can't speak for Rev but maybe the easiest solution would be for him to ban you from buying his games and then you wouldn't have to worry about how many he was releasing. Lol! :)
