Do you still have it? Yes, but don't have ready access to as it is in storage. It was already upgraded with a Mosaic 64KB RAM board and GTIA in late 82/early 83. 8 hours ago, ClausB said: 16 hours ago, BillC said: This one does appear to have failed QA initially though, going by the hidden label. Hidden label? You mean the second label? The lower portion of the second label has darkened, made me think it was on top of another label. stushug
Looks like I posted the wrong serial # for my 800. I forgot that I purchased a replacement shell from Bob Woolley a few months ago, and I posted a pic of his bottom shell. Here are the correct numbers for my machine.

You're suggesting that the second label indicates a factory repair? Interesting! Was that common practice then?
stushug
That happened so long ago that I can't remember why I had the unit serviced. Having that Atari Service label does tell me that I had it serviced for something, though! Edited October 11, 2022 by stushug
AtariBob800
Posting up my two 800's. On the left is the tag from my original 800 bought new in late 1982 of early 1983, It was a 48k machine bought with a 410 cassette drive. I want to say I paid $599.00 for the set and I think it came from Sam Goody as they were having a sale. The one on the right was bought from B&C Computer Visions as a referb in late 1988 or early 1989. I had read the article in the November 1988 issue of Antic magazine and wanted to do a 256k memory upgrade but didn't want to damage my original 800 so I bought this one to upgrade. The upgrade was successful I'm glad to say. Both machines have been upgraded to an incognito board, and 800 #2 also has a Sophia 2. 800 #1 is awaiting a Sophia 2 upgrade. I don't have these setup at the moment but hope to have an area fro a desk and a monitor in a few months. Also what do the hand written labels mean? is 11/20 and 4-18 the exact dates of manufacture? so 11/20/1982 and 4-18-1983?? Thanks AtariBob800
+kheller2
Was it explained anywhere in this thread how the Serial NO sticker relates to the AW sticker?
+Larry
Wow! At least in the photo, there appears to be no darkening of the plastic. Nice!
Peri Noid
What can be derived from this sticker? It's an NTSC one with CTIA and a 6502B.
burkhart87
This NTSC 800 is from this thread: It was modified with an Omnimon board. Looks to be from December of '82. Edited March 10, 2023 by burkhart87

SlagOMatic
I have two NTSC units but only one of them has a serial number sticker on it, and to be completely honest I legitimately have no idea where either of these originated from. I never had an 800 in my life; I went from a 400 to an 800XL to a 1040ST. When I was moving all of my Atari stuff from my mother's house to my house about 8-9 years back I opened a box and out popped two Atari 800s. My mother had no idea where they came from either. 483918, date code #143
SlagOMatic
Update to mine... The machine that DOES NOT have a serial number sticker on it has a date code of "ATARI / 192". Not sure if that helps anyone, but there it is.

Sorry for the mistake, after double-checking(2-400s and 3-800s) it appears the label in the cartridge bay was likely only used on the 400. Peri Noid
A UK PAL machine. Now has an Incognito and an SCCC inside. I wonder if it's possible to derive year/month just by the serial number - no date code on the badge, as you can see. It has additional "ATARI / 072" engraved on the case - does it mean 7th week of 1982? Edited March 20, 2023 by Peri Noid

Peri Noid
I think, not all - therefore, some have date codes printed on their labels.
