Cart adapter update! I finished 3 more adapters tonight and put the text on the 2600 one. I even connected audio up for the 7800 and Intellivision adapters so pokey sound and intellivoice should theoretically work. Though I do fully simulate these on the FPGA as it is... but the parts are there in case you wish to pipe external audio in.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I added resistors on the data lines for the 2600 so that "bus stuffing" will work. I saw that in the 2600 subforum and figured I ought to add that, just in case. There's an "in" and "out" bus now to allow this to work.

So far I have 2600, 7800, Coleco and Intv adapters done. Got another 5 or 6 to go.

As I'm posting this, it's less than 30 minutes until the next batch goes up for order on the NT Mini.

'So, choosey beggars, plain or black? ;) I'm torn between the two - clean, simple, pure on one hand, with the bare case - more stylistically blending and "playing nice with the others" with the black.

Is the black from dye/paint or anodizing and if the later, does it make it more scratch-resistant? Also, the original Nt came in other colors, as well. Will we ever see such variants, or is it stylistically felt the current offerings fit more in line with intent? If we were to try to customize the case, what methods might work, given the materials?

This is the battle that I have been going through as well.

I have the plain not black one.

I prefer the metallic look.

I've been forking out a lot of dough recently for both necessities (faucet broke, microwave broke, rice cooker broke) and frivolous crap (getting Les Paul refretted, everdrives, etc.).. but man I can't help it. Snagged a non-black one :P

Ordered but I am concerned about the loose carts... would be nice to have fixed.

Don't know how that could happen. It's simple mechanical advantage. The cart slot is too close to the top part of the case. Any movement in the cart is immediately "transmitted" to the slot contacts.

If the slot contacts were much deeper (thus a taller console) the amount wiggling would be significantly reduced. Reduced below the threshold where the contacts make or break.

I ordered one today as well. I am definitely interested in other cores and cartridge adapters. For me, Atari 2600/7800, Master System, Game Gear, and GB/GBC would all be great. How about the Atari Lynx? Is that possible? What about C64 and the Atari computers? Could you use the USB port for a keyboard?

Kevtris, thanks for all of this!

C64, Atari-8 and Apple are on his want-to-do list, as well as the Lynx, so looks like you are well-covered. :) I imagine the computer systems are a bit more finicky, dealing with alternate O/S and if some of the fan-based aftermarket expansion systems are implemented. The use of a k/b and possibly a mouse, would be a must. Remapping per system to use the k/b, shouldn't be that big a deal for Kev, though, compared to everything else he has to create work-a-rounds or mitigate for. ;)

It's that time again: new firmware friday! Today I have a triplet of cores. These are:

Game King

Gamate

Supervision

A triumvirate of LCD handhelds! These handhelds are fairly obscure, though but I still had fun playing them.

This brings the core count up to a total of 10. The Core Store is coming along pretty well I'd say.

totals so far:

NES

Master System

Game Gear

Colecovision

Gameboy

GBC

Atari 2600

Supervision

Gamate

Game King

left to do:

Adventure Vision

Atari 7800

RCA Studio 2

Channel F

Videobrain

Arcadia 2001

Creativision

Odyssey^2

Intellivision

SPC player

Mandelbrot viewer (this probably won't be released on here, because of the total lack of multipliers. or it will be vastly limited. We'll see)

This means I'm about halfway through.

Anyways, enjoy!
