CatPix
Hello! So I pulled out a C128D (a PAL C128D, not a C128D CR) from storage. There was issues with it, that I narrowed down to one cause (tho I didn't checked the Datasette imput or the cart slot as I have neither of those). I had glitches, the C128 mode locked, and the C64 mode glitching at keyboard input. I went and checked all connections, reseated all possible chips, and there we go. Except for one thing : the included floppy drive. The light goes on, the motor spin endlessly. After looking up I learned that in C128 mode, if the drive is on, the computer try to load from the drive. If I pull the power plug from the drive, the C128 mode goes READY and I can type in, so on that side, I'm clear I checked out on the 1571 drive and it seems that my problem would be caused by various IC failures. Is there maybe other reasons, or a way to replace the drive? Alternative solutions maybe? 7800fan
Try reseating all the ICs. I don't remember which one would cause a busy drive issue but it sounds like it can't initialize properly so maybe the ROM chip? You could try Lemon 64 forums, there are people who can tell you right down to which resistor is likely bad.
