Ze_ro
I was finally able to find some Odyssey^2 games in the wild today... through my years of searching, all I had been able to find for O2 stuff was my single O2 system. Anyways, I managed to get three games for $5 (Freedom Fighters, and two mystery cartridges... one says Videopac 38, but the rest of the label is colored with a black marker... and the label on the second game is torn to shreds... I'm guessing it's Speedway/Spinout/Cryptologic). And I also got... are you ready?... Quest For The Rings and Conquest Of The World together for $6! Sweet! Two of the games I wanted most for this machine. Unfortunately, I could only find the cartridges and not the other accessories, but at least the cartridges are in fair condition (not great, but good enough). So, is it worthwhile to play these games without the extras? Or should I look for a good scan of the overlays so that I can print 'em off or something? Eventually, I'll probably buy a full set off eBay or something (Since printing enough to re-do the boxes would be a pain in the butt), but in the meantime I wouldn't mind enjoying these games. --Zero
Phosphor Dot Fossils
Z, they're absolutely worth playing on their own, ESPECIALLY Quest. Good God, but that's some fun stuff you've got there. I can scan the overlay for you if you need it, though I bet Will Cassidy's got it as his site already. I may also have a spare box/board/manual laying around, as I've gotten a few copies of Quest in various states of non-completion over the years in trades and eBay lots. Big Player
Here are some links with scans of all the pieces to the games. I just picked up all three Master Strategy games at Philly. It's too bad the combination of board games and video games never caught on. Ze_ro
Here are some links with scans of all the pieces to the games. Cool... although the board scan is too small to print out and use... anyone have another source? By the way... are those tokens metal? I wouldn't mind just printing off a set on paper and gluing them onto cardboard... it's just too bad my printer can't print "shiny" It's too bad the combination of board games and video games never caught on. Yeah, this was sort of a Magnavox-only thing, and no one else really did it. Except of course Nintendo when Mario Party came out... although since the board game aspect is all internal to the game, it's not really the same. Oh, and that Videopac 38 ended up being K.C. Munchkin (yay!), and the torn-label cart ended up being S/S/C-L (boo!). It's too bad this system apparently wasn't very popular in my city... I think it's awesome! --Zero
Big Player
Yes, those tokens are metal. They don't even use that to make cars anymore. I couldn't find a good scan of the map, but here is a link to the instructions with an Ascii chart of the map towards the end. Hope it helps. http://www.ozyr.com/o2/o2quest.html Conquest of the World instructions that also contain some of the game board information. http://www.ozyr.com/o2/o2conque.html
