Some like the one being Auctioned on Ebay ,, but some motherboards wiere sold..

Thanks rdea for the excellent link! It took me over an hour to read it from start to finish, but was well worth it. I just gotta say that was a very dedicated effort on Vandal's part, and quite the contribution he made to this community.

The daughter board is the modem. The daughter board uses a TI modem chip. Some mother boards use a 74HC942 chip instead of the daughter board.

The SC-01-A speech chip is above and to the left of the modem.

Hi Kyle, thanks for the explanation. So the answer is NO to being able to just duplicate a module from this and stick it into something like a 1200XL. I guess what you and I discussed a while back will still need to be pursued at some point ;-)

Woo Hoo!!! The game has begun

30-Day Summary

Total bids: s.gif1

Items bid on: s.gif1

Bid activity (%) with this seller: s.gif100% s.gifbtnHelp.gif

would think most on here have bid on ebastid at some time...so it could be

either ;

a] a lurker to either ebastid or here, or

b] someone who uses ebastid - but hasn't for sometime

Most likely the latter since the bidder does have 125 feedbacks.

It has the modem and a voice synthesizer. The 1450 has a connector for a parallel disk controller. The 1450XLD has a built-in disk controller.

5K? Better not go that high. No telling what ebay will do if it exceeds my monthly maximum.

Bob

Oops! Looks like someone did. About $2K over the last one.

They just sit in a box in my basement. Might as well let someone else use them.

I use the 1200XLs - all the time. I have some old, old 1200s that I might sell. Or, an 815.

Or, what would you like to see for sale?

Bob

Put the 815 up for sale. I'll be in on it.

Hmmm.. that one seems odd.. The fonts on the computer logo seem wrong. Also wasnt it mentioned earlier in this thread that the 1400xl didnt have F3 & F4? This looks like a 1200xl that somebody slapped a home-made logo on to pass as a 1400xl.. I wouldnt bid unless I had better proof it WAS a 1400xl.

I agree. That looks completely bogus, but hey it could be a real 1400 XL motherboard jammed into a 1200 case and then completed with a DIY label. There were people assembling the motherboards that got sold by B&C, and I think BEST had some as well. But if that is the case, it wouldn't be worth anywhere near as much as a genuine 1400XL like the one Bob sold.

Hmm... the PBI pass-thru looks good though, like factory. Very odd.
