Is this a Wico Y Cable for the 5200? The cable is in good condition but I'm having issues and wonder if anybody has some advice.

I connected an Atari 5200 controller, this cable, and a Wico command control joystick :
- the Start/Pause/Reset button still work as excpected
- The movement and button of the Wico do nothing (I tested with my 2 working wico joysticks) and the movement seems blocked to the direction right-down.

looks like one to me

those cables are made kind of weird the wires are crimped to a friction connector and those are just pressed onto the back of the pins then a coating of clear plastic and over that the rubber like handle

they can corrode and make them no longer have contact you might be able to make it work if you lightly smack the handle of the plugs handle part with a hammer hoping it will jar them to make a connection

but if its a bad wire in the harness its done things get old and break after all they are nearly 30 years old

  • 2 weeks later...

i made a little batch of keypads with a wico plug on them but with all my ideas they are made of shoddy parts constructed haphazardly

and with that in mind i am able to keep the cost down to the low low price of $12 delivered within the usa

if you want one pm me

What kind of abuse can your 5200 adapters take? Would you recommend keeping controllers plugged into the cables and the cable plugged into the console so you don't have to keep unplugging them?
