Wow, what a difference a few years make. I haven't played Mario Kart 64 in ages. There was a time when I thought Mario Kart 64 was the best video game ever created. I guess that was back when I was good at it. After getting 1st place in the Mushroom and Fire Flower cups on 150cc, I tried the Star cup. I kept finishing last in Bowser's Castle. I think that's one of the hardest tracks in the whole series, with way too many thwomps and other crap to run into, and lava to fall into as well. I did however, finish in 1st place in 150cc Special cup. I used Donkey Kong. I taped the credits in case I never get to see them again. Now I still like Mario Kart 64, but not as much. I had to take at least 5 tries to finish Bowser's Castle in 2nd or 1st, but I just couldn't do it. I led part of the times, but then something usually happened and I get stuck at dead last. Now I can think of other games better than Mario Kart 64. Super Mario World comes to mind. But boy, am I glad I kept on to my launch day copy, since they're going for insane prices on eBay! Just about every game I like is at least $20, Mario Kart 64 has a BIN price of $40! Makes you wonder why people dis on the N64. Must be because they've never tried it because it's too expensive!
