budz2355
This might not be the right place for this, but here goes... I installed BOOT & BOOU aka the 9640 Menu files on my ram disk. Everything seems to work okay, but I also have installed some of Rasmus' awesome games (Scramble, and Road Hunter. When I run these programs and then go back to the BOOT menu everything is scrambled (no pun intended). I have no idea if the versions of these programs I am running are the most up to date. I can say for sure that the 'B' on the BOOT program menu looks like this: B' as opposed to A C D, etc., the single quote mark is after it. Are there newer versions of these programs I should have installed? Does anyone else experience any of these problems? I am using XB 2.7 to run a LOAD to DSK5.BOOT as opposed to using the RAMDISK functionality of a CALL to begin on boot up. I know Omega put a great list together of all the 80 column f18a programs in one thread, but are there links to all this stuff? (the newest versions?) All programs seem to run fine (currently menued PALEA5, TIMXT, Scramble, Road Hunter, Legends (running from DSK1 uggghhh I will try to finish this game a third time and start from the beginning..again). Anyone know if there is a way that I can get a .RPK fill to my ramdisk? I would love to have Early Learning Fun on my RAMDISK instead of cart). Any suggestions for other MUST HAVE programs? I have a clock,f18a,32k, etc. so I should be able to run just about everything?) Sorry this isn't organized, but if you want to quote(or not) and answer any questions it would be greatly appreciated. +acadiel
Ah, Tony's 80 track mod. I remember him doing that like 15 years ago after I brought it up in the Yahoo TI-99/4A group :-) Man, I'm getting old.
budz2355
Omega do you have a link to your 3.5" external enclosure? I thought it was in this thread, but perhaps I am just blind...?
Omega-TI
<< Here >> is one thread on the EZ-135 case. There are three EMPTY cases currently being sold on Ebay << HERE >> at a decent price. They apparently come with a power supply as well. They look like they need to be cleaned up a bit though. Gazoo was the guy that first told me about them, they are PERFECT for an external 3.5" drive.

budz2355
So minor update... Bought that case (thanks Omega) ... came broken....ugghhhh still waiting to see if seller will send a replacement or get a refund... But! ... possible new plan, maybe I'll mount that 3.5" in my PEB? Does anyone know if this piece can be found for cheaper? http://cdn.opentip.com/Electronics/Iec-Inch-To-Inch-Cable-Adapter-p-1573870.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjwoM63BRDK_bf4_MeV3ZEBEiQAuQWqkbOAt8ACtmypSIV1KSlOdNaYpZn5EJBmslzwQK4155gaApFr8P8HAQ I couldn't find any on ebay really, but I might not be searching the best terms? ...also... Thinking about a Lotharex HxC argghhh! the modern era! Anyway... would people recommend the F rev of this or maybe the GoTek instead? I am a complete n()()B so I am assuming the lotharek product is the way to go... Commentary on any of the above?
+Schmitzi
Hi, I think, by finding this available ID34-to-CE34-Adapter you´re a lucky guy !! I am looking so long for this stuff, and there it is I think, there is almost no chance to find that on eBay, or maybe at random chance. If so, please let me know xXx Here are some of my ones, which I luckily did NOT dump, back in the 90s For the Emu-drive, If you just want to buy and to plug and play, take the Lotharek. Gotek is tinkering until the doctor arrives. (but maybe you like that, of course, then OK)
+Schmitzi
. Budz, if you go via I.E.C./ConnectWorld (maybe the "mama" of you opentip-link) then it is about 5$ cheaper http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/hello-cables/process?xdZTjqV9;;18 strange that I never found that. I have ordered so much TI-cables on connectworld last year.......
+Ksarul
It looks like IEC still has these too (like Schmitzi's first picture). . .although they are slightly more expensive, or the one that you already found Budz. Both are cheaper direct from the source.
Omega-TI
Buds, Since you asked for opinions, yes, I believe the Lotharek to be the easiest solution. It's essentially plug and play, has it's own display built-in so you'll know which image you are set on,and it can emulate two drives at the same time. Functionally it's easy to use, and many of us have one so help is always available. It's more expensive than the other solution, but there is no need to reprogram anything, install buttons or attach external displays. Just slide it in the EZ-135's case, make the connections, and start using it.
+Schmitzi
OK, there´s a new list in town (IEC Parts & Cables ) http://atariage.com/forums/topic/241978-ti-994a-resources-lists-lists-and-some-lists/?p=3476532

Both are cheaper direct from the source. This is awesome. I didn't even think about the fact that the 4-pin molex would be too big for the power on the 3.5" drive. I am going to order this right now. Also, the gent I ordered the case from sent me a replacement so we are right on track. Since I have an unmodified disk controller, which diskettes should I but then? Any links would be very much appreciated
Omega-TI
Since I have an unmodified disk controller, which diskettes should I but then? Any links would be very much appreciated When it comes to 3.5" diskettes, 720K's are the best for TI use. You'll still be able to use them when/if you decide to upgrade to the DDCC-1 FDC clone (when it comes out). You can still find these diskettes at somewhat reasonable prices. If you don't want to use 720K diskettes, 1.44's will work too, but you'll have to put piece of black electrical tape over that extra hole. << THIS LINK >> gives more detail. It's not pretty, but it works. If you want to purchase some 720K's << CLICK HERE >>
budz2355
So I got the disk case from Omega's link... I got the 3.5 to 5.25" conversion kit from Ksarul's link... I got some NOS 720k non HD floppys unopened from eBay... I plugged everything in, removed my large full size DSK2 enclosure, hooked up the new drive..... and it doesn't work (here is where you guys should be proud of me) ....so instead of exploding in typical fashion, I decided I would systematically change components on the drive until I got it to work. To make a LOOOOONG story short (yes I tried many many many thing, and amazing didn't smash anything...) I finally got the disk drive to work! ...sort of... I could only get the drive to read (and as DSK2 as you wonderful people correctly directed me that since this drive has no jumpers it is jumpered as B) when hooked up to my TI power supply. Here are some photos... You can see the SyQuest EZDrive enclosure only has 2 of the 4 pins in the molex connect. Ironically I have TWO of these enclosures since the plastic came broken on the first one so I checked the spare and it also only has 2 pins... You can see in the pictures that when I hooked the drive up to the actual TI power supply it worked fine. I formatted my first disk ever to 180k (only made it up to 718, but hey..) So...mighty people of the TI forums, I beg your help! ....what do I do now???

budz2355
. which disk controller do you have ? is it 80-track capable ? Disk drive worked perfectly fine when I hooked it up to the TI power supply. See the first picture? Everything worked perfectly as DSK2.
budz2355
The only other thing I can think of is here is the branded power brick that came with the SyQuest disk enclosure. However the two prong cable that plugs into the brick says 10A 125V. Omega does the light on your power brick pulsate when it is hooked up? ....mine doesn't at first but then the light starts to fade and then go bright.... fade and then go bright.... Omega-TI
Nope, it's solid as a rock. I did learn a valuable lesson though... TURN IT ON A F T E R POWERING THE P-BOX. I recently turned it on first and FUBAR'ed my main ,hfe file on the HxC. I lost a lot of stuff.

Look on your two hole plug that goes into the brick and flip it over and tell me what the volt and amp numbers are on it? Should be right on the stub with the holes. End of the cable looks like a figure 8 or infinity. Edited April 1, 2016 by budz2355

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by two hole plug that goes into the brick, but if what you want are the specifications, no problem...
