Atari Prism questions

Hi there

Do you know if this Atari prism was ever for sale?

I've seen it on the Bests catalog, on the memorabilia section, but I don't remember seeing it listed for sale.

If this is not for sale...Is there a way to make a decent reproduction for this? Any ideas?

Kind regards,

Louis BQ

PS: Admins, feel free to move this thread to a more appropiate place if needed...I couldn't find it.

You could always email Brad @best and ask if he has any recollection of how these were distributed.

I doubt they were ever sold.

I've seen similar things from other companies. Generally they're gifts that are presented to client management, occasionally technical people doing courses and the like.

My guess for Atari's case would be they were for distributors.

Often they have a chip that is made by or of some significance to the company, encased in epoxy. Cheap gifts usually, I would think the chips would be failed ones pulled from the line.

Hi

According to the atarimuseum.com, there's an Antic chip inside the prism:

I was thinking if it is possible to make a replica out of transparent plastic, but I think the result would not be crystal clear...

Kind regards,

Louis BQ
