Michael David Morsette
I am not happy about all the copies and pirated versions of Lynx games floating around eBay lately. I would like to call out Kokete (eBay ID) and ask them to stop. I know from the the material they are selling they are members here. Actions like these damage not help the community. You want to benefit the community? Come up with some original stuff to sell. I don't really have a problem with one on one deals between collectors that involve creating carts of ROMs, I have a big problem with an online business selling what amounts to pirated goods. HandheldGuru
I've seen a lot of his stuff floating around in the past few weeks, looks like he just put up some (what appears to be) fake Lynx Boxes/manuals and claims they are from Japan....and those are totally fake. Damn shame, thank goodness some legit stuff was actually posted today! Edited February 21, 2016 by HandheldGuru
BadPricey
If you check his description for the boxes it clearly states these are not original boxes, they are copies printed on photo paper. He's not actually doing anything wrong by offering reprinted boxes. What's annoying is several guys on here put in a lot of effort to create custom boxes, so he's just taking advantage of other people's work. I kind of hope it's someone who did most of the work here that's offering them for sale.
Guitari
Where does he get all these Japanese designs from? I only ever knew about one Japanese design and that's klax.
Serblander
Where does he get all these Japanese designs from? I only ever knew about one Japanese design and that's klax. I think he's just using the Japanese colour instruction book covers for the design of the Japanese boxes, which, to my understanding, apart from KLAX don't actually exist. Guitari
The silly arse. Interesting this though for me, I've been collecting lynx gear since 2001 and never knew Japanese had their own manuals which unless they all speak English makes sense. I have every cart and variation, I've even pushed hard to get homebrews and demos such as EOTB and Tnt terry; do I now try and collect all the Japanese manuals? Good luck to myself if I do. There's pretty much one route left for me otherwise and that's to collect duplicates for comlynx; some duplicates I already have.
elmillortoni
It's really annoying to see what Ebay member kokete is doing, taking advantage of other people efforts. Have you seen his "japanese boxes"? What a FAKE. As Serb says, these boxes doesn't exist. @guitari: good luck, mate. These games are hard to find, but not impossible. +karri
I just checked his items. You cannot really be mistaken of what he is selling. THIS IS A CUSTOMIZED COPY OF ATARI LYNX GAME BOX printed in 300gr/m2 PAPER. Box only. Its not the original box.
Michael David Morsette
While there are a number of items I don't like I excused boxes for prototypes he made. These though took it way to far for me: http://m.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-LYNX-ZAKU-BOX-/201527200420?nav=SEARCH http://m.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-LYNX-ALPINE-GAMES-BOX-/201527199443?nav=SEARCH This is a direct rip off of recently and currently produced games. Things like this really hurt the community.

Things like this really hurt the community. Didn't the first Alpine Games ship without a box? This is just a reprint of the box so I can't see what harm it's causing. The Zaku box is again just a box. If he was selling pirate copies of the game that would be an issue. I could see lots of people willing to buy a Zaku cart, official or unofficial, if it were made available. I would prefer to see Super Fighter Team make another run. Turbo Laser Lynx
I just checked his items. You cannot really be mistaken of what he is selling. THIS IS A CUSTOMIZED COPY OF ATARI LYNX GAME BOX printed in 300gr/m2 PAPER. Box only. Its not the original box. I thought the boxes were quite creative. Selling them as some kind of real items for a lot of money or to sell the games themselves would ofc not be ok. GadgetUK
I don't see the problem with repro boxes if the seller is up front about it. The real problem is when they are trying to make out its genuine.
Trew
There's also this auction: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atari-Lynx-Game-RAIDEN-NEW-/201530692482?hash=item2eec2a5382:g:u84AAOSwKtVW0MxB It shows a copy of Raiden (probably legit) with a reprint box. The problem is, the box isn't even included in the (massively overpriced) auction. It's $6 extra! What a bloody cheek. In related news, here's a link where you can buy a BRAND NEW copy of Raiden with PROPER Box for half the price: http://www.telegames.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=324_63_64&product_id=5313

I just ordered one about 6 months ago it now comes in a CD Jewl Case. In fact all the telegames releases that were post Atari no longer come in boxes they are all Jewl cases with manuals You can actually look at the photo on there website an it shows its a manual inside a jewl case if you look at the top and bottom you can see the holders under the plastic. Trew
Cool. That's still a case of some sort. And some sort of official. This auction is just for the game... and twice the price. Unless you wanna shell out $6 for the fake box. Telegames is still a much better deal.
BadPricey
I've read somewhere that only one version of Raiden works, the other glitches and you can't get past level 2. I have the CES version, downloaded a Rom, and I got to level 3 with no issue. On the second run I had some weird stuff, but a reset worked a treat. LX.NET
Raiden never came in a box. It has always been CD jewel case afaik. if you have CES version showing at the start screen of your Raiden cartridge it is not the official release. The official release did not have that. Trew
Actually.. yeh, same here. Double Dragon also came in a box when I got it from Telegames recently. But then Raiden is different I believe in that it never had a cardboard box (If I remember rightly). Only clamshell or jewel I think. Only clamshell or jewel I think. OK, here is what i know. Please feel free for anyone to correct me if i'm wrong The ONLY Telegames Lynx games to have NEVER had a box release are: Bubble Trouble - originally in a Clamshell, then the later CD cases. Fat Bobby - CD case only. Hyperdrome - CD case only. Raiden - CD case only. All four Lynx games originally (and occasionally still do) come on the Flat black 'Long Live Lynx' carts. The original ones with white labels and black game title on it, later same cart but coloured label, and now mostly Green PCB (but sometime black flat coloured label variants when/if in stock). Interestingly, Krazy Ace Miniature Golf came with typical Lynx box, same order of cart variants as above, but a paper manual - never a booklet or poster instruction. What you get now with Desert Strike, Super Off Road, etc is Black & White photocopied manual, but original Box. The carts however have been increasingly the Green PCB variants. Recently I got Super Off Road from Telegames via Nick (16/32 Systems) and it was the original box and original instructions (lucky ) but Green PCB ( ). Was lucky to pick up a Lynx and 5 game carts plus accessories a few weeks later for only AU $100 - and that included an original Super Off Road curved cart so now i have an original CIB set plus a Green PCB to ComLynx Of course, don't forget the rare Telegames normal game CD cased release variants like Double Dragon, Lynx Casino, etc. that has the CD case, flat black cart and paper instructions! Trew
Sounds right. Whichever way you slice it, you shouldn't be spending $134 for an unboxed Raiden on eBay. In fact, I didn't own the game yet so just bought TWO new copies this weekend for about that eBay price, with packaging. Just out of spite. Michael David Morsette
So one one cares but me huh. Well whether he announces it or not it is still pirating and his business of copies and frauds seems to be growing rapidly. Whether you see it or not this hurts the community, and Kokete if you have any integrity then stop. There is a big difference between making some things for yourself and friends, and having a full blown online business selling pirated/ knock off stuff.
Trew
As a collector, it's also annoying when you reload ebay and see a rare large box california games, or Japanese Gates of Zendocon... then realise it's a printed copy.
