jcbstein
I was curious as to how common mislabeled XE cartridges were. I have a cartridge that is labeled as Dark Chambers(see photo) but the actual Game is Thunderfox. How rare was it for Atari to make this mistake? Paul Westphal
First I have heard of it in the XE line. Does the label look official?
jcbstein
Yes, this label is identical to my other Dark Chambers Label.
+CharlieChaplin
Hmmm, I once had a Parker cart. that was labeled "Q*Bert" but contained "Super Cobra". (Sold it for a cart with the correct Super Cobra label) Never saw an Atari XE cart with a false label, so they are not common. But I don`t think that many Atarians are collecting carts with false labels...
Fox-1 / mnx
Maybe someone exchanged the shell? I have a zillion of LodeRunner carts so I just reuse the shells for other things.
Atari8bitCarts
it's common to find shells swapped with other games. And people take labels off, or make some in addition. Does the shell have any signs of tampering? The inside PCB and chips could be different than production carts, hobby, etc.
