Rhindle The Red
Sorry. I'm morally opposed to identifying the vintage gaming generation with just Nintendo. Now, "The Atari Generation", I could see.....
Gregory DG
4. Image should have a tranparent background, so it will be easy to put in other places with no modifications. Initially that sounds like a good idea, but to do transparancies you have to use a .gif image which limits the total colors to 256. Unless there is some other graphic format that web browsers can read that will do more?
krisjohn
PNG supports an alpha channel, but most browsers choke on it.
krisjohn
Well, the dimensions lead to more of a banner than a logo as such, but I've submitted my entry: That should keep me going until the next label compo.
Nintendo Penguin
#4 seems to be a bit of a problem..... toss it out if you wish!
krisjohn
#4 seems to be a bit of a problem..... toss it out if you wish I think it's just that most people don't know how to get rid of that black, white or whatever fringe 'round the edges of a transparent GIF. There's a bit of an art to it and you have to be willing to zoom in all the way. I usually work with a bright pink background if I'm doing a transparent image, so that any fringe is very obvious. Just so that no-one can complain too loudly about the software you need for this, I did my entry using Photoshop 3.0.5, not 7 or 8. Chances are it's been given away on a cover disc by now. Although I am a huge Nintendo fan, I must agree, Nintendo doesnt represent all vintage gaming to me
MegaManFan
Although I am a huge Nintendo fan, I must agree, Nintendo doesnt represent all vintage gaming to me Just because we love Nintendo doesn't mean we're biased against other consoles. Just like Modern Gaming and Classic Gaming on AtariAge, you can freely discuss other systems on our boards.

thirdbird
thanks! I was trying to match the background to their existing blue/grey header at the site.
thirdbird
dorry to break your 1 entry rule, but hoped you could bend the rule just this once, as I kept playing around and came up with this one. Probably more descriptive of your site. Thanks!

Probably more descriptive of your site. Thanks! I know the final decision is Mark's alone, but if I had to vote for one right now it would be yours HANDS DOWN. That's killer sweet. I want to put that on a bumper sticker and slap it on my car.

maibock
Someone help me out here please.. Why does Vintagegamer come to AA to get people to design things for his site? I'm honestly not trying to start anything, but just curious, since most sites don't appreciate people trying to drum up traffic for someone elses site.. If there a mutual agreement, well that's cool and all, but these constant pleas for support from the vintage gamer people seems a bit out of place.. like I said, it could be that I just don't understand the relationship here.. Thanks in advance for the enlightnement

I love Nintendo a whole bunch, Im a rabid Nintendo in fact, specially if you see me defend the Cube and the Modern gaming boards...
Nintendo Penguin
About posting the contest here..... It is posted at VG as well. I posted it here for two reasons: 1. Many VG users also post a AA, so the traffic thing shouldn't really be an issue. 2. VG deals with Nintendo, not Atari. So I didn't really think anyone would be offened. Besides, I figured since AA has so many more members, it would be a much better chance of getting some awesome entires! Hope this clears things up, and again, it wasn't VG's intention to "steal" traffic or offend anyone. I just thought some creative souls would be interested. (Besides, the winner gets a free t-shirt!) Happy_Dude
I love thirdbird's color scheme and those elipses I tried to borrow them but the elipses didn't work out... how did you do that? Anyway, I'm changing my official entry, I think this one stands up on its own a lot better than the ones I posted at VG. And I threw some other concepts in here just for fun
MegaManFan
like I said, it could be that I just don't understand the relationship here.. Why shouldn't two sites with a mutual love of classic consoles and retro gaming help each other out? I'm proud to be a member of both, and I think having the logo design contest on both sites promotes the idea that it's a contest for EVERYONE, so even if you're not a regular member of the boards you can still win. Of course if you want to join, nobody's going to tell you not to either.

I'm not a VG poster but figured someone could grab my entries and post them for me somehow, not take them and call them their own.
BeerGnome
yeah.. I gotta agree with thirdbird on this.. there should bedifining individual entiries, not reworking of others entiries. if that were the case there wouldve been an official template to be refined by the participants. and the contest would be based around that

Thanks in advance for the enlightnement Look at it this way: Vintagegamer offers a place for people to talk about Nintendo. It's less work for the moderators here because that's less posts about Nintendo that they have to scan in the Classic Gaming General and Modern Gaming forums. Less work for the Als, CPU and every other moderator! Vintagegamer is still new so give it some time. It will not steal traffic from Atariage because a lot of people tend to post at more than one forum(I post a 3 different forums, AA, Vintagegamer and PlanetPS2) and it will actually help people from across forums to discover new places to post. Vintagegamer also has unique topics that possibly aren't discussed here at Atariage, like some really neat off-topic forums and forums dedicated to all of Nintendos consoles and handhelds. In my opinion, it's a win-win situation.
Brad2600
I like Thirdbird's logo the best..and I'm not saying this just to kiss ass. It actually looks really to the point. I'm also partial to the one with the Sega-style font..but it would look out of place in a Nintendo related forum.
