Price check SMS lot

Recommended Posts

There should be a "no highball" disclaimer on CL and any other places and people who fails to sell for the original asking price will be required to drop the price 10% a week until it sells.

Personally the most I'd pay for that is probably $200. I like SMS and at one time had over 150 CIB games before I sold them off to pay huge bills. Everdrive is not the same but it suits me until I can get safely back into SMS. I did keep the 3D glasses :P

Well apparently this guy is off his rocker. I messaged him offering 150 minus Alf I told him to sell that on eBay for top dollar then he flipped out on me saying why am I looking for stuff for free and that offer was insulting and I am an %$^%^& and a #$^%^% and a @!$@#!$. I just insulted him over and over and over and then I suggested he get the light gun for the games he needs them for so he ordered it off Amazon. Then he messaged me saying sorry and some sap story of family of 5 and it was his wife's stuff and crap.

Look we are all out to make a bit of money and get good deals is what I said its just business. Then I told him he was the only one insulting anyone so good luck with your medication pal and I will pick up your stuff at the local retro store when you get tired of it not selling.

Good thing I figured out this guy was wacko before I tried to deal further and that is why CL can scare me at times.

Oh well lets see how long it sits being out here in bumbleville no on else will want that for that price.

Sorry, but the sad stories are almost always fake. There's always a family of five, or someone just got cancer (yes, I've seen that used countless times), or someone totaled their car. All simply ways to get you to pay their asking price out of guilt.

My master system collection is in its infancy, and I have infinitely more rare games than he does. Like others have already said, outside of alf, all he has are the ultra commons that litter local game stores for five complete or less.

Hell, he doesn't even have the typical common games that are actually worth owning, like Choplifter, The Ninja, etc.

For 350 he better have complete copies of all the sonic games, mortal kombat games, gouls n ghosts, Simpsons, Tom and Jerry the movie, and a plethora of the other 92-93 era games that are rare, and maybe some Mark III games and a converter while he's at it haha.

Tell me about it. I had a guy one time have his kid fake being sick and asking me to throw a tournament because he needed to win it so he could get a doctor for his kid...

wait...

nevermind... that was something that happened in Breath of Fire III...

Anyway, yeah... what you said...

I'm going to disagree with people. This lot is worth $350 all day. If I would sell this on ebay I would expect to get at least $350 for it, but I would split it up to make more. I think a reasonable offer would be $300 cash pick-up. I think $150 is a horrible offer. Alf sells $60-$100+. Golvellius sells for $40 all day. The system that works is worth a good $50, a power supply and r/f cable are common and cheap. Spend $10 and sell the system for $75.

I'd pay $200 just to resell the lot, maybe more.

eBay price is not a good indicator. A lot of the time it is what the seller wants, not what the buyer will pay. A few buyers with deep pocket and has lousy haggling skill would buy it overpriced anyway and artificially inflate the fair market average. Also eBay does not show what the accepted best offer price are so you don't know if that $200 CIB Phantasy Star ended up sold for only $20, it would still show $200 and best offer accepted.

There is no better indicator over what something sells for. I get my info on what sold "aka completed ebay listings".

Agreed. In an auction world, fair price is "whatever the market will bear." If someone has deep pockets, that's just reality, no point pretending it's not fair.

I disagree.

The collection world (in and out of retrogaming) is full of people who's only way of showing their "collector talents" is to throw big money at people's face.

Also we all know that eBay prices can be manipulated, so nope, a selling price on eBay is NOT telling anything.

Multiple sales can reveal a trend. Not one.

Else any price you find can be an indicator.

I personnaly found a Turtles in Time cart for 2€. If I apply your way of thinking, then all Turle in Time carts on Super Nintendo are worth 2€.

I disagree.

Ok, keep disagreeing. This seems to be the trend lately with many people. They have the mindset that if they disagree with what "some" people are willing to pay then somehow it will magically stop them from paying it lol.

By all means keep disagreeing. People on the other hand will continue to sell at prices "some" people are willing to pay. I find it funny how people complain when a game sells for $50 and deny it is worth that much, then complain when it is selling for $70, and then $100, and so on, just to say they "feel" it is only worth $50 now....?

When "some" people are willing to pay that much, that pretty much means it is worth that much at least to the people who are buying, whether you agree or not. What "some" people are paying is all that matters. I don't feel Stadium events is worth more than $10 myself but sadly that is not going to stop "some" people from spending thousands on it.

Just because you find a game for less than it is worth does not mean that is the value and is NOT my way of thinking.

Well this is your way of thinking. You take that SMS lot and declare that if someone try to sell for this price then it's a correct price. No.

By your standards then, retro gmes were sold in an auction in France.

Goldeneye on N64 was sold for 9800€.

A Magnavox Odyssey sold for 2500€

So, are those the "new prices" since apparently someone wanna spend so much cash in them? Ore are those the action of uninformed people that think htey are bidding on much more common item than they think?

I'm not talking about the slow rise of prices. But ePay an other sales sites are full of people that know jack shit about prices.

2€ for Tutles in Time is not a normal price. Neither is a loose SMS for 50$.

Not surprised you're going to bat for ebay, or in other words, price charting.

ebay is not the market.

That lot, including ALF, is worth about $125 to 150 tops.

Shouldn't you go back to Nintendo Age with the other resellers and collectards?

Do you read what people write? I said:

"There is no better indicator over what something sells for. I get my info on what sold "aka completed ebay listings"."

That means I looked up completed listings on ebay for said items in that sms lot and derived based off what items had sold for that the lot was worth $350. I never said it was worth $350 because he was asking that price. I never said it was worth $500 like that guy had replied in his email when he was pissed. I disagree that it is worth $500 and he said that.

You are sadly mistaken thinking a master system is not worth $50. The broken one would fetch $30 on it's own.

Just look for yourself.

I don't play well with NA lol.

ebay may not be your market but it is a market. If someone can sell that master system lot on ebay for $350 to $400 then why not?

If people are willing to pay a certain price for something they are going to get the items. I don't understand the problem here. If you guys don't want to pay ebays market value or even remotely close to it that's your right. Just don't expect someone to sell something to you for $100-$200 less than they could profit from selling on ebay.

You're out of your mind.

A working Power Base with no PW supply, no RF cord, no light phaser, and one (possibly) working control pad is worth maybe $25. If it had teh PW supply, and light phaser, sure $50 is good.

having 3D games in your lot, but no 3D glasses screams "reseller jacked up price". as does the non-working console.

None of those other games are worth more than $5-$10. and 6 of those games consiste of 3 sets of doubles, which are unsellable ultra commons that won't get $2 boxed.

This is crap. Do not buy it. let it sit idle. no one will ever buy it.

Do I need to post more? You guys are insane if you think a system is only worth $25 LOL. I love you guys. This is the same mentality I have in my area and I freaking love it. Just a few months back someone listed a turbo grafx for $20 and I offered $125 for it as it had a booster and some games. I kept a bunch of games and sold the system, booster, and keith courage for $300. yeah I got hit will $40 in fees and $25 shipping. but I kept $100 worth of games and profited $ 100 for a 45 min drive there and 45 min rive back and an ebay listings. 2 hrs for $100 and $100 worth of games.

The people in my area refuse to pay market value as well and you can call me whatever you like I don't care, but I pay more than what people feel stuff is worth because I know I can sell it for more on ebay. You will never stop people from reselling if you are not willing to pay a decent price.

I find it truly sad that people who actually want stuff will not pay a fraction of what it is worth. If I can pocket $100 for a 60 minute drive and doing a 5 min. ebay auction. Yeah that's pretty hard to pass up. You keep denying what stuff is worth and people like me will keep buying and reselling for what people will pay.

Yes, you're the one driving the market price up. Thanks you not for crapping things up.

Nice mentality : "Hey people look : I use people 's efforts not to steer the market up to fuck them up in the ass and make the market price rise insanely."

You're truely an example for us all.

See you in 5 years were you'll consider than a loose SMS not working is worth 1800$.

And, nice work. I've been on forums for many years, and you're the first forumer that make me truly wish that AA has an ignore list.

I don't drive the prices up. I sell for what people are willing to pay. People paying drive the prices up.

Sorry, that's how it is. The highest bidder gets the items.

Well to be fair I did hit my local retro store and picked up a working master system with one controller all hookups and bundled with California Games CIB and Shinobi with box no manual for $45.

My thing is local is one thing eBay is another. I don't feel like you can price eBay in all locales cause only some people would be willing to pay that amount. I advised this gentleman to list it all on eBay but break it up selling Alf and Golvellius separate but not everyone likes to sell that way. Top dollar local here he just won't get but time will tell.

etc. etc.

There are literally hundreds of ended auctions for non working, untested, or confirmed working SMS consoles for $20 - $40

You cherry picked ones you thought helped make your point. Apparently you for got that you can sort them by Lowest Price + shipping.
