ABBUC Softwarecompetition 2016

I finally bit the bullet and sent a membership request a few days ago. The fact that the magazine is in German and my German is rusty to say the least had always put me off before, but so many English speakers have recommended membership I decided to go for it.

Yep,

we had requests (or spoken thoughts) several times, that we should create at least one Abbuc issue per year (or more issues) in english language or even create the whole (paper+disk) magazine in german and english... well, it did never happen...

I am trying to have the Abbuc magazine disks of the software contest at least available in english, with english texts and descriptions of all the ASC programs on the diskettes (and the german translations on the paper-magazine). This is much easier and a lot less work, because I only have to translate the few programs with german-only descriptions (but believe me, my german-english translation skills are not very good). Let`s see if that works again this year (and I hope that the programs with german-only descriptions do not have very long texts)... of course it also depends on the size of all the programs, since we want to have the programs on as few disks as possible (the disks have to be duplicated 400 times)...

Thank you very much!

The more ABBUC gets international members the more ABBUC is getting an international club.

I think ABBUC has a lot of german members aged 60+. These members usually don't speak English very good. But these members are getting less (because of losing interest, becoming ill, etc.). And on the other side the portion of international members who don't speak German is growing.

Pro© Atari is an positive example that it is possible to release a fanzine in German and in English language. Only about 10 persons are doing this great job (and I think all of the are members of ABBUC!!).

I could help if it's just the lack of translators that has prevented it from happening. I have to publish my work both in English and German, so I'm quite used to writing/translating stuff in both languages.

How do I renew my ABBUC membership? I received the "30 years ABBUC in a box" a couple of weeks ago and noticed the date on the label was 30.03.15 - so I owe money! Unfortunately I did not note down my membership number.

Back on subject, I love the look of The Monk and can't wait to see it.
