I don't know if very many people here frequent the AtariOnline forums, but this seems to be progressing pretty well (and seems to work fine on NTSC now):

AtariOnline: Bosconian Project

[Note: You'll need to register if you want to download the XEX files.]

Looks good so far. No collisions to your ship, no enemies other than the motherships but they do shoot. Nice how the star background moves independant of everything else.

Have to wonder though will they be able to put everything in... naturally it'll be understandable if the speech isn't there.

Also - must be some character trickery going on to have the score and stuff on the rhs.

I'm wondering the same thing, but it all looks promising so far. The project was only started in March of this year.

I was a little disappointed in the performance drop when he added double-buffering, but understandable.

On AtariOnline register/sign in to download is only needed when/after it translates. If you are on Polish language original there's no need.

Ah, alright, that's it. I knew I'd had a problem downloading before.

Wow, the first time I looked and got the few XEX's out I thought it was coming on very nicely and now its looking awesome, super work..

The ship death explosion 'square' needs to look less square please :)

Otherwise I'm blown away...Really well done...

Paul..

Hmmm... that last XEX file plays, but I get no sound :?

System: XEGS, U1MB (SDX disabled), TK-II-STEREO, BASIC disabled on boot

File: DOS 2.5 ATR with 'bosconian.xex' inserted and renamed to AUTORUN.SYS

No sound either in MONO or STEREO mode.

Any ideas?

There is no sound yet...

Then it all makes sense :)

I think what got me thinking there was a problem is that the video did have sound, so I automatically assumed that the attached file was the same that the video was made from.

Thanks for the explanation.

Neat tune actually. The YouTube info says it's by Radek Sterba. I wonder what the name of the tune is.

That's Raster... so it's probably something plucked from the RMT library or ASMA archive.

Yes, Radek Sterba = Raster, Mr. RMT. I assumed it is in ASMA, and I'll dig it out sometime unless someone who already knows wants to point it out before then.

Re the digitised voice, that's quite a feature on its own, I can't imagine they will attempt to add it, I'd have loved to have Gorf with the speech but I'd imagine to have that as well would push the boundaries of standard off the shelf memory configs, even with a 64K machine that does not leave a lot of space for game and speech (although Kennedy Approach proves both can be done well, but KA does not need a large space for sprite / character data like an arcade game does)

well that is looking outstanding! Of course now I'm spoiled on the music as well.

I'm in total agreement  This game conversion is looking awesome!!! can't wait to see it in its final form.
