+Propane13
When I played CA Games as a kid, there were 2 ways to play it. You could go as fast as possible, allowing you to do numerous tricks and get tons of points. Or, you could go for accuracy and get the bonus if you got all of the blue flags. So, it crossed my mind-- is there a way to get a "perfect score"? What are people's best, and how did they achieve them?
+jeremiahjt
I always went as fast as I could looking for some big air for tricks. I never really played it for score though, I did try to do it crash free.

+Propane13
I also found there was a "California Games" BMX challenge in the HSC. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/224204-season-3-weeks-78-the-new-hsc-radical-wheels-weeks I haven't read too deeply though to see if strategy was discussed. Jinks
I go as fast as I can and do lots of tricks. There is a couple spots where you have to time your jump so you dont crash. Other times you just crash here and there. I used to play this game for hours as a kid. Probbaly one of my favorite 2600 games. I liked it better than the nes bmx game which said stupid crap as you crashed etc. and was very frustrating.
dark-aleph
The best strategy is the most annoying. You hold the joystick in the SW position to go as slow as possible, press the button to jump, flick past the down position and release the jostick to do a pathetic, miniscule tabletop. Each tiny tabletop earns you 300 points. You can go slow enough over the course to earn thousands of points per screen and ultimately max out the score at 99,990. No-one can beat this strategy, and as I found out as a child, no-one ever plays with you again Edited August 1, 2016 by dark-aleph
