+eebuckeye
I have an Amiga 500 that was upgraded to 3.1 but I want 1.3 to run older games. Where can I buy the chip to install? I might consider a kickstart switcher but I'm not sure why I would want 3.1 for gaming. Thanks!
FastRobPlus
They are pretty common. If nobody here has one to offer and you don't see a cheap one on ebay, you can create an account and ask on AmiBay.
carlsson
At the moment, I only spotted one such chip on eBay. None of the licensed Amiga resellers have it in stock, they focus more on 3.X and forwards. I understand with the proper EPROM and programmer, you could make your own but perhaps that is not within your scope.
Mark Wolfe
I have two A500 one has a dual kick selector, I was thinking of selling the other due to my wanting an A600 I also have an A2000HD with the advanced video toaster on it, the one with the extra ram. It's pretty sweet. Also boots from a SCSI hard drive from the installed SCSI board. Currently looking to affix a SCSI to IDE adaptor that I had laying around to add an IDE CF or SD adaptor so it can boot from removable modern media I'd gladly trade all that for an A600 or A1200 As for kick roms I've seen them at a few places but you might want to consider getting the ACA500 or waiting for the kipper Vampire II for the A500 that's coming out some time soon I hear. The one for the A600 is why I am getting rid of the extra a500 and the a2000hd.. Check YouTube for the demo, it's amazing The aca500 has on board kicks that you can switch between 1.3 & 3.1 If you can find it, I suggest getting a 2.x chip, my experience has been that it runs the stuff that the a500 can run with 1.3 & 3.1 without problems so far. Runs most classic workbench software from 3.x on down. The aca500 has on board kick like I said, it's fully licensed and you can switch at menu screen upon bootup I know it's been discontinued but I was able to find one no problem. There is new stuff in the pipeline too if you're patient.
