I know its hard to believe but our Pitfall and Pitfall 2 review episode is done. Capt. Bob will be uploading soon. Apologies for the long wait.

This is such an interesting pair of games.  I think 5200 Pitfall is nearly unplayable, but Pitfall II is arguably the best version of that game.  In fact, I feel like it's time to play it again.

In this episode of The Atari 5200 Podcast, we cover two of the most influential and popular video games of all time: Pitfall! And Pitfall II Lost Caverns. Not to mention the normal amount of jackassery that the usual suspects deliver.

Passion! Intrigue! Artificially inflated prices! It’s all here on The Atari 5200 Podcast!

While listening to this and thinking about Pitfall 2, something occurred to me.  I had the Apple 2 computer version when I was kid, and played the crap out of that one.  The Apple 2, like the 5200, had an analog joystick, so my experience with the game is almost entirely on analog sticks.

Might be why I've never had issues with the controls on the 5200 version.

I never had/used an analog joystick before I got my 5200 and never had a problem playing any game with the CX52. Yes they had issues with the contacts not working after a while and the rubber boot sometimes ripping, but I never really had an issue with the stick and playing any game. It was so much easier to play games for hours verses using the CX26 on the 2600. That controller used to make my hands cramp after a while. The 5200 controller never did that. It was the Super System after all. It separated the men from the boys. ?

It’s been a couple of months since we recorded this and we all have gone through an adventure or two. But finally, here it is! Episode 14: Dogfight! The gang reviews two of the lowest rated games for the system, Congo Bongo and Quest for Quintana Roo. And just a heads up, Pete owns this episode, and it’s great!
Mystery! Adventure! Horrible Collision Detection! It’s all here in the Atari 5200 Podcast!
