Mini Arcade Alert!

This just in! The Data East mini cabinet kind of bites. I'm pretty sure the more advanced games run more slowly than they do in real life, given the fact that they just feel better in the Switch collections (not that these were all that great in the first place). I'm guessing I'll need to mod this to make it even slightly useful.

I wonder about this... there are several Taiwan based importers selling tabletop claw games for about this price already... I wonder what the actual size on this would be?  I have one I'm using in my classroom, and it cost about this much...

I'm assuming it's similar in scale to their arcade cabinets, so probably just a bit more than 5 feet tall.

I just hope that they don't ship these in an envelope like they shipped out the Galaga with the joystick last year.

I returned about 5 different My Arcade machines because Amazon or My Arcade directly kept shipping them in a slightly padded envelope instead of a box,and the plastic case would get crushed or chipped without fail.

Or actually, as an epic fail!

Epic fail indeed, Amazon did the exact same thing for My Arcade's Atari Micro and Pocket Players using white plastic padded envelopes, then also THE400 Mini by Retro Games with an unpadded paper envelope, almost like a store bag, I had to exchange all three! 🤬

I figured I couldn't possibly be the only person that happened to!

I did order one of the micro players from Amazon, but through a company called Geminatronic I believe, and they actually did 📦  ship it safely.

When contacted, My Arcade was virtually unhelpful at all,and I was really only trying to help them out by making them aware of the shipping problem.

When ordering from them directly, I had the same bad experience.

My Arcade told me that Amazon also handles all of their direct orders.

They do now,but they used to sell direct.

It astounds me that my cat 🐈 treats always get shipped in a box with some paper padding, but Amazon ships what should be a collectable micro player in an envelope. Poor management, I say!

Packing anymore is turds. If your Amazon stuff gets boxed, it's resting on or under those air packs and the opposite side is against the box. I've noticed this with other places too. My example is with Ibanez. They had an old guitar part that's next to impossible to find in the wild. It gets packed under air packs and against the box. Box got a little damage and the part broke. I did fix it, since I couldn't exactly send it back for another. 😋

So I saw the joystick Galaga and Pac-Man at BJs.. and yeah what is up with that Trigger for Galaga? I guess an arcade-accurate joystick + button has been done already so they had to do something new by making it innacurately unique  Ah well.. I'll never buy it so it doesn't bother me.

What was interesting is they also had this Pole Position. I'd be curious if anyone tries this out whether it's an actual analog steering wheel or just digital control. My bet is on digital, but am willing to be surprised!

Oooh I don't want these anymore, but if that wheel is legit I'd make the exception.  Not sure why but even if I am not great at it, I like Pole Position.  It's why I keep one of those 15(?) year old MsPacman Jakks things around since its on there and the knob is a wheel too as it twists.

I'm digging, can't quite get a clear answer, but 50/50 that wheel is legit.  Also Pole Position 2 is included as well.  Runs on 4AAs or USB-C power.  It IS the arcade rom in this one as well, not some recreation stuff.

Has anyone posted a review of this one? I'm dying to know if it's crap or gold.

Damn!  I was basically done with these outside of seeing one at a thrift, and before that because of the poor design of the SF2CE cab where it had control problems which caused me to just let it sit.  This though, they seemingly have finally cut the crap and grown up, this is done right, very right.  I'm not sure if this is another of their high end $50 painfully priced units but I'd even think I'd drop that on THIS...all thanks to that wheel, the wheel, the real roms and to be fair PP2 which just isn't usually included on stuff annoyingly.  It's a wicked 5min or 30min distraction to hit again and again, more so with the sequel due to track choices.
