Yakumo1975
So, I decided to ad a custom firmware to a Miyoo A30. Is it really an improvement over stock?
Yakumo1975
By popular request, here we go with Battle of the Ports Mortal Kombat
Yakumo1975
Probably the worst 3D fighter to come out of Japan.
SlidellMan
Fist looks like it would make the Saturn Toshinden ports look like Last Bronx and VF2.
Yakumo1975
We're going for a classic computer game this week on battle of the ports and one that was quite impressive for the early 80's.

SlidellMan
Thunder Force 4 is one of the hardest games I have played, and I love it despite it getting long in the tooth around stage 8.
Yakumo1975
A golden oldie on this weeks Battle of the Ports and possibly the worlds first “First person perspective” game.
Yakumo1975
One of the games I sank so much time in to as a teenager. This is Data East's Thunder Sirm, also known as Combra Command on this week's Battle of the Ports.
Yakumo1975
Classic Namco this week on Battle of the Ports.
SlidellMan
There's just something about Namco's Wave Shape Generator chips that made their games stand out. We should be lucky to have Namco WSG support in Furnace Tracker.
Yakumo1975
Sega had some crazy ideas back in the day. Why else would they come up with a fighting dux who is refereed in a boxing match by KFC's very own Colonel Sanders This is Battle of the Ports Remastered release of Dynamite Dux. SlidellMan
I'm still wondering why Dynamite Dux wasn't ported to the Mega Drive. Fun fact about the Amiga Port: There was a cheat that made the intro rather racy via hacking. Larry Bundy, Jr. did a video on his channel. Supposedly there was a MD conversion annouced in the Japanese Press. Beep! Magazine, September 1989. I can't read Japanese, so...
Yakumo1975
A true groundbreaking game thsi week on Battle of rhe Ports as we take a look at Grandia.
SlidellMan
The PS1 version of Grandia reminds me of the port of Silhouette Mirage that was localized by Working Designs, that one localizer you love to dislike: Noticeable graphical cuts, but has something to compensate for that. Grandia and Silhouette Mirage were originally designed with the Saturn in mind, and the aforementioned graphical downgrade is one reason why Radiant Silvergun's Playstation port got cancelled. That would all need to be polygons on the PlayStation. It would look awful.

These are getting better all the time, though at this point one would think these would be even better than what they are. Still, for those who just want something to plug in and play, these type of devices are seemingly offering a lot of bang for the buck.
