Flojomojo
Ugh. A pale, flaccid imitation of the real T2K. Yuck. Yeah, just tried it for myself. Touchscreens don't make good controllers. Give me the real thing any day. OK true believers, what is your opinion of Typhoon 2001? I just tried it ...
+CyranoJ
OK true believers, what is your opinion of Typhoon 2001? I just tried it ... It's got all the elements, but none of the charm.
Flojomojo
It's got all the elements, but none of the charm. That seems overly sentimental to me. What are you looking for? 20FPS framerate? Phone dialer controller? CRT bleed?
+madman
I think I played Club Drive at just the right time, cause I remember thinking it was cool to play a racing / driving game that allowed free roam in a 3D space. Not sure what came before that did that, but I think Club Drive was the first for me. Stunts on the PC is the first I recall that in that genre.

I usually look for fun in a game before frame rate... maybe I'm just old fashioned like that.
Flojomojo
I usually look for fun in a game before frame rate... maybe I'm just old fashioned like that. So what's missing? Please try to put it into words, I'm genuinely curious
AtariORdead
So what's missing? Please try to put it into words, I'm genuinely curious Why are you so bothered, you seem have a real problem with his personal opinion. Its his opinion, he has no need whatsoever to justify it to anyone, which is what you seem to want him to do.

Its his opinion, he has no need whatsoever to justify it to anyone, which is what you seem to want him to do. I'm hardly "bothered," but he said it had "no soul" and is not fun. I think it's a great rendition of the old game, and technically superior. Minter himself has written up some great impressions of remakes, most notably Tempest X, outlining what seems to be missing, using words to express these thoughts. No one has to justify their opinion to me, likewise no one has to get pissy when I ask for clarification of a one-word dismissal of something I like.
doctorclu
Going with what I think was originally intended for this thread, I'd say "Fight For Life" always sounded like Inglish, like a non-English person trying to speak English. Seems as if it should have been "Fight for your Life" instead. Zoop, never thought of that as Zebra poop but makes sense. "Braindead 13" doesn't say what the game is about off hand. The rest are generally alright. Edited August 28, 2016 by doctorclu
rayik
I'm hardly "bothered," but he said it had "no soul" and is not fun. So you have the answer to your question. Some people like it, others don't.
SuperDork3000
Supercross 3D was the biggest POS. It had nothing going for it, the graphics were shit, the game play was shit.....just horrible. People give Club Drive crap but at least it looked have way decent and supported 2 players. It was a decent game to just goof off in with another player. Major Havoc 2049
Checkered Flag is easily the worst to me. The beyond horrible control and unstable frame rate and beyond horrible AI in CF make it nearly unplayable. At least with Club Drive, FFL and WMCJ, there is some fun to be found and unique ideas. KidGameR186496
Hey, the Jaguar may be pointless! .. but c'mon, that red text logo, so attractive. Also, pretty good early FPS line-up. = ) Good point that you mentioned now. The Jaguar was good for FPS games.
Stage_1_Boss
Would've been awesome to see Heretic, Spear of Destiny or heck, even Corridor 7. Jaguar seems to be my go to system for old school FPS.

BassGuitari
White Men Can't Jump is the worst cart title I've played on the Jaguar. Checkered Flag doesn't even touch it. Checkered Flag is Gran Turismo 6 compared to WMCJ.But, while I haven't played it, Supercross 3D looks even worse.
+CyranoJ
Well...Heretic is being worked on for the Jaguar at least from 2014 i believe. The is a deep RUMbling in the force.
+madman
Jaguar seems to be my go to system for old school FPS. You might want to pick up a N64.

According to here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first-person_shooters PS1 still wins, N64 second (but with Daikatana I am not sure) and then the Sat, but they do not list Doom for Jag so what do they know? But I agree the N64 has quite the share with 4 Turok(s), Perfect Dark, 007 etc...
+madman
Well yes, but the point is if one is into old school FPS games, the Jag is not the best choice.
+phoenixdownita
I guess Wolf3D is missing from most, albeit the SNES port wasn't all too shabby. I like the 3DO version (I finished it).

That's cool if you prefer the N64 for them. = ) I wasn't big on Goldeneye or Turok, but I do like the "sprite" look of Wolf, Doom and AvP. +SabertoothRetro
For me, the worst Jaguar game is Checkered Flag. The game is just a complete mess. Even Supercross 3D is more enjoyable. This is such a well worn topic though. We all know that Checkered Flag, Club Drive, Double Dragon V, Supercross 3D, and WMCJ are the bottom rung of the Jaguar library. Although, I will say that WMCJ can be fun with a teamtap, three friends and a few IPAs.
LianneJaguar64
I have no nostalgia for this machine, so thankfully no rose tinted specs cloud my vision xD saying that, the only game I don't really like playing is Checkered Flag. It's pretty bad...
