MEAN SANTA!

MEAN SANTA! is still on track and being worked on! It is a game loosely based on the fantastic holiday Dr. Seuss cartoon "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

It is being programmed by Rafael Cardoso. If all goes well and is planned, it will be released on December 1, 2016

 

 

Here are two screen shots. One is of Santa in his sleigh dodging the snowflakes and the second is of Santa once inside the house, getting ready to collect the items!

December 1 is two months from today! I just looked at the calendar!

The first is a screen shot of the 16th ( and final ) house in MEAN SANTA:

 

 

 

Santa must start at the top, and work his way down, avoiding the 4 guard dogs.

At the bottom of the screen is the ROASTED TURKEY DINNER, which MEAN SANTA
must steal, and then work his way back up to the top of the screen, once again - avoiding the 4 guard dogs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The second is for owners of the VIDEOPAC PLUS systems... if you have this system you will see these enhanced graphics

as MEAN SANTA navigates his sleigh:

 

 

Please note these graphics do not appear on the ODYSSEY² systems...

Rafael has been kind enough to offer a demo version of MEAN SANTA for everyone to try.

It only features 3 houses of the game and then it stops. The released game has 15 houses and 1 final house with the ROASTED TURKEY DINNER which is being be protected by 4 guard dogs.

Some notes:

- This is a timed game. Best time wins.

- Fly your sleigh through the night sky. Avoid the rogue snowflakes. Get hit and your sleigh will be bumped and 10 seconds get added to your time.

- Navigate your sleigh and carefully land onto a roof to enter a house.

- Steal , I mean collect, the presents in the house. Do not bump into the walls.

If you do, the lights will come on and you will have to be still for a few seconds... this adds more seconds to your time.

- Press the action button to make Mean Santa move faster while in the houses.

Each day, I am going to the post office so all the good girls and all the good boys get their Odyssey2 / Videopac game in time for the Christmas holiday.

I hope that the manual has at least some lore and backstory as to why Santa is being so mean! :?

It does:

 

"What could cause someone to "snap" after hundreds of years of generosity?

Was it the blatant commercialization of Christmas, with cheap decorations displayed in stores well before Halloween?

The threatened unionization of the elves?

Or perhaps international regulators who banned reindeer propulsion because the flatulence of nine reindeer was damaging the ozone layer?

Or was it just one naughty child too many?

Whatever the reason, Santa Claus has gone over to the dark side, and this Christmas won’t be the usual season of good will toward men.

“Maybe the children of the world would learn to appreciate the important things in life if they didn't spend Christmas focused on shiny new toys,”

Santa stated earlier this year. “Maybe this year, Santa will take away presents instead of delivering them...”

Instead of leaving lumps of coals in the stockings of the naughty children, Santa has decided to teach them a lesson –

and no bad weather or guard dogs are going to get in his way.

And he’s asked for your help in executing his diabolical plan."

I must admit that the game was inspired by "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," one of my favorite holiday cartoon specials.
