Japanese games on a USA 360 console?

Has anyone successfully managed to get a U.S. XBOX 360 to play Japanese games?

A related question is: Anyone know which file it is that informs the console what region the game is?

One of my 360s is never intended to be hooked up to the web, so a console hack is an acceptable solution. However, something a little less intense is preferred (like maybe moving files to a USB stick, modifying a file, and then running the game from USB -- if possible). I seem to recall a PC utility that reads 360 discs...

The 360 needs a GameShark like device. I haven't seen any thing that lets you play Japanese games on a US system you'll have to get a Japanese 360. :jango:

Whether a game on the Xbox 360 is region-locked or not is down to publisher choice, as was the case with the PS3 (though in the PS3's case, it was only ever used for Persona 3 Arena, since Sony tended to discourage the practice). The Xbox 360 had more region locked games, probably due to MS not giving a crap either way.
