Nebulon
Has anyone successfully managed to get a U.S. XBOX 360 to play Japanese games? A related question is: Anyone know which file it is that informs the console what region the game is? One of my 360s is never intended to be hooked up to the web, so a console hack is an acceptable solution. However, something a little less intense is preferred (like maybe moving files to a USB stick, modifying a file, and then running the game from USB -- if possible). I seem to recall a PC utility that reads 360 discs...

I haven't seen any thing that lets you play Japanese games on a US system you'll have to get a Japanese 360.
Clint Thompson
I thought you could just create a Japanese Xbox Live account and the games would work? I remember getting the Tetris Game and that Japanese RPG that way but maybe it was only digital. It's been so long...

Nebulon
I've just checked it looks like your right! Looks like they've got this one locked down. Right after agreeing to the terms of service (the 3-minute mark in the video is the same part of the process), it issues an error number and states that "This action can't be performed at this time." RawSteelUT
Whether a game on the Xbox 360 is region-locked or not is down to publisher choice, as was the case with the PS3 (though in the PS3's case, it was only ever used for Persona 3 Arena, since Sony tended to discourage the practice). The Xbox 360 had more region locked games, probably due to MS not giving a crap either way.
Atariboy
Joysound Dive from the Japanese Playstation Store is region locked, too.
