karokoenig
Here's what I found in my Secret Santa package. As I already wrote - my son lovesd the shirt, and his dad likes his . Also, my Secret Santa somehow found out that I am a total sucker for submarine simulations. Having this complete in box is a sweet addition to my collection. Thanks, Secret Santa and Merry Christmas to everyone!

jd_1138
I got my Secret Santa box today all the way from lovely Germany. 2 NIB 7800 games, an NES game, a box set of a German sci-fi series and a bunch of German candy along with a very nice letter. The candy's delicious, and I am going to have a lot of fun with the games and the DVD box set. Thanks so much! +cvga
What is proper etiquette for opening Secret Santa gifts? Are we supposed to wait until Christmas Day? I have a gift that came all the way from Sweden that I've been tempted to open for over a week!
carlsson
As you can see, several of us have already opened our gifts so I suppose it is up to your conscience how soon you want to open yours.
+frankodragon
Open it. It's December 24th on the other side of the world anyway.
7800fan
I've been busy with food preparation. Cooked a bunch of stuff yesterday and it's 5 am here with lots still to do to cook and haul to my family's party. Odds are someone would probably end up carrying all my stuff and me to party tomorrow. I doubt I'd have time to open gift properly so I went ahead and opened this one. Wintergreen candy (love em), old fashioned bottle cap candy (loved them as child, would likely be finished before I sleep tonight), Spaceball BD (love the movie), and The Commodore 64 Exclusives book. I don't know how someone knew but the movie and the book were both on my Amazon wish list. Thanks whoever from California! (PS if all those work for food seems like a lot, suggest getting married to someone who is also good at cooking so half the work to do. Still single BTW)

+cvga
Wow, this was an incredible Secret Santa year for me! My present arrived awhile ago, all the way from Sweden, and I've been wondering what might be inside. I had a few minutes to myself this afternoon while everyone else was out doing last minute stuff so I decided it was the right time to open my gift. There were four presents nicely wrapped along with a card. Here's a picture... I started with the long skinny one which contained three "Daim" bars. These appear to be very similar to Heath bars in the U.S. Yum! Can't wait to try them. I then opened the "pouchy" gift in the upper left-hand corner. A bag of M&M-like candy. BTW - the kids are back and are very interested. My daughter wants to know if getting candy from the U.S. is as cool to people in Sweden (or other countries). Good question. I moved on to the gift in the upper right-hand corner. I could tell it was framed but was blown away when I opened it. It's perler bead art from my favorite game, Beamrider. It's absolutely incredible and I'm truly moved that someone took the time to make it specifically for me. Amazing! I opened the largest, heaviest gift last. It's a book titled "Generation 64 - The story of how the Commodore 64 inspired a generation of Swedish gamers". It's hardback, pulls out of a special cover and it is really nice. Santa really does his homework. I'm assuming he noticed that I have a corner of my gameroom dedicated to my Vic 20 and Commodore 64. I didn't know this book existed and I am very excited to read it. We are spending time at the in-laws tonight and I am taking it with me. Santa doesn't realize how much he just brightened my day! To top it off, there's a card with artwork from the Generation 64 book that also included a $10 gift certificate to the AtariAge store. I wasn't expecting that, especially after opening all of the other great gifts! Thank you so much Santa! Albert
I have to say, it's really wonderful and inspiring to see all these great Secret Santa packages! I'm truly impressed with the thought and care that's gone into them! I'm glad that everyone has been posting photos and describing their contents. And a HUGE thanks to Grig for once again organizing the AtariAge Secret Santa. I still have two items from my Secret Santa package I haven't opened yet. Going to wait until tomorrow. I'll then post photos once I've done so. ..Al
carlsson
@cvga: Yes, I appreciated US candy as much as you probably like foreign candy. The difference is it is more likely someone here imports sweets from the US, so we already know it, but it costs 3X similar domestic candy. Btw, as the sender was quite obvious, the activity I engaged in for the first time in 30+ years was the beading and ironing the result. Perhaps I should have started with something smaller than 38x38 patterns but it worked out better than expected. carlsson
Better than expected = I was terrified that it wouldn't hold together after the ironing, that it would get too big and fragile so it would break into pieces after lifting it from the pearler board. But I suppose I was careful enough to make it work. By the way, some take their candy testing seriously: http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2012/04/taste-test-chocolate-covered-toffee-bars-heath-daim-skor.html Edited December 24, 2016 by carlsson
HoshiChiri
So I decided to go ahead and open my Secret Santa box to help distract me from my Christmas cold. Lots of new Inty stuff! This actually doubles my collection of boxed Intellivison games. Sadly I can't actually play them right now as my system's on the fritz- this puts getting it repaired as a top priority! Of course, I've already been playing around with the flashback. It's much smaller than I expected- which is good, it'll be easier to take to work & such. I was already pretty darn floored with my gift as-is, but as I removed the packing material from the box, I encountered a small bump: Disney Trading Pin! My fiancé's family has dabbled in these on & off for years, but they've never mentioned any Atari themed ones! I can't decide if I want to put it on my convention bag or not- I'm afraid of it getting damaged. No cons til spring at least, so I've got some time to think it over. Thank you to my unidentified Santa- this is completely above and beyond what I expected, and I love all of it!
Mountain King
Looks like. Grig was my secret Santa. Thank you so much. I have some reading to do. I love the books. I already collect 2600 games, but looks like I am starting my 5200 collection. Thanks again. This was awesome! Merry Christmas.
moycon
I opened my wrapped gifts today and was got a cool Little Brother 45 record with the song Atari 2600. The MP3 has been a staple of my gaming folder for years, so it was an awesome surprise to have the disc! Also got a Arduboy which looks very interesting. I think it's like a gameboy for modern creators to make games on which others can download/upload to the Arduboy for free. Can't wait to check out some cool RPGs!! Thanks SS!!

I think I've got Glove (Gauntlet clone) on mine right now.
+Grig
Huge thanks to my SS Two-In-The-Belfry The candy is superb! Thanks for the card - knowing that you are a dog lover - do you own pugs? My sister does and she loves them. I do not own Innerspace so it is a welcome addition to my blu-ray collection. The Tron Soundtrack is fantastic, one of my favorites. This shirt just blew me away. I will wear it proudly. I do not have any Starfighter shirts so this is my first. Thank you! I love this community ...
Chuck D. Head
I just wanted to let my SS know, I won't be opening my package today, been at the hospital most of the last two days with my wife's family as my father-in-law is at the end of the line with his bone and lung cancers. I told her I was going to crack it open when I went home to take care of the dogs, but my wife said she wants to see me open it. I will post asap once I do.
