peedenmark7
I just got this in last week , finally got a loaded game card yesterday and am just not bonding with it.. Since I see no real advantage to using this set up, I'm gonna stick to magnetics and when they finally fail, the 64 can go to the dump.. This is the one from the guy on eBay in the UK, it's the one made from ground up C64's. I am gonna lose either way on it after paying for and to have a card set up loaded with games, so if I cant get my asking, I'll give it to my brother and he can mess with it. $80 shipped and pp'd , no gift payments. Happy New Year !
tjlazer
What's not to like? What I've done is copied a folder and found a bunch of single file executable games and threw him in there, have over 300 and I can play all my favorite games easily. peedenmark7
I bought this for Impossible mission 1 & 2, Epyx , summer games, s.g. 2, Winter and world games and bounty bob strikes back. Basically for the 2 disk games. Yep, lots of games one can play, but I got tired of having to reboot every time I went to a new game. Many say this is great, for me not so much. Going to the 1541 Ultimate 2. I'm as much a plug and play guy as there is,
eightbit
I hate to say it but that is going to be a tough sell considering these are available from the developer (thefuturewas8bit) for $45 USD. I just added it to cart with an 8GB card shipped from Europe to the USA and the final bill is just under $55.
peedenmark7
I paid $77 shipped on ebay , its the one that's ground up using original C64's. Yea , you can buy the clear or colored one for much less, Like I said I'll give it to my brother for any less.
ianoid
As I understand it, these are made by several different people at several different prices. And the ones with the repurposed plastic are the most expensive and most cool! And I've been messing with one of these as well. I didn't realize for some time that I had to quit the menu selection and then load the disk manually. Some images don't work for me, probably because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm going to pick up a 1541 Ultimate II as well. The dollar is strong for the moment and that looks like a pretty turnkey solution that is much closer in functionality to my beloved Apple II CFFA 3000. eightbit
This particular one is made by one individual, and it is here (the one made with C64 plastic...$48.40 USD): https://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/shop/commodore/sd2iec-rc64.html You may have paid a bundle because you went through ebay, but because of taking that route you pretty much got ripped off. It sucks (I know, been there) but you cannot expect to get $30 more than what people can get it for brand new just because that is what you paid for it. Your either going to have to knock your sale to $40 or keep it as far as I see... Sounds like you haven't really tapped into the potential of this device though. It can do some great things...I wouldn't give up on it so early. Edited January 1, 2017 by eightbit
peedenmark7
That price is NOT in US dollars on his website, that is British Pounds which at $45.99 GB = $56.80 in US dollars. I looked up my invoice and I paid 58.94 GB shipped which I was charged $76.93 in US dollars , which makes no sense as the dollar is stronger than the British pound, so did ebay and paypal screw me? I then paid $20 for an SD card loaded here on AA, I paid over the asking for the card to pay for the members time , I am not looking to recoup that time. Just the SD card and the SD2IEC, If I cant get damn close , my brother can have it, but if ebay and paypal screwed up , then its going back to the seller.
