snicklin
Are there any PC based utilities to create an Atari executable which plays back compressed speech derived from a PC based .wav or .mp3 file? Ideally with the smallest overhead possible with the playback routine code.
Codeman
Give this utility a try. It may not be exactly what you are looking for. This utility runs on the A8 and will take a PC generated .WAV file and play it on the A8. sound_u.arc Edited January 27, 2017 by Codeman

I don't know what sample format works best with the 8-bit, but whatever it is, these tools should be able to produce it, and save it as a raw format (no file format, just pure audio)
Mclaneinc
@Zzip, Snicklin is looking for a PC util orr utils that takes the audio, compresses the speech and adds a playback routine and then makes either a file, xex or Atr that then runs on the Atari.
