First Spear
Hey all. I am struggling with the right Keyboard Hackfile needed to run with jzIntv on Windows 10. I pulled a working controller and Nurmix converter cable from my Intellivision II and connected to a Vision-Daptor. Windows does detect it, but it does not like the NE direction for some reason. When I launch jzIntv, the side buttons map to East and West direction, no keys register properly. I tried Swords and Serpents, Cloudy Mountain,Star Strike, Stunt Cycle. The keys are all jacked up. So I think that part of my problem is a bad key hackfile... Can anyone share a working version? I did try to get something from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5035/jzintv-intellivision-hackfile-not-working/14and http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/interface/hackfile.cfg Thanks. mr_me
You have to have it working correctly in the Windows Game Controller Test window first. If its not working there, no hackfile will help. If its a flashback controller and a nurmix flashback converter cable then the Vision-daptor should be set for regular Intellivision. If its a flashback controller only, than the Vision-daptor should be set for Intellivision flashback. edit: There's two general types of jzintv hackfiles for intellivision usb adaptors; those where the keypad starts at the fourth button and those where the keypad starts at the ninth button. +intvsteve
Actually, this brings a question... Is there a respository of "canonical" hackfiles for the various peripherals? Or is such a thing even possible?
+fdr4prez
Raphnet, Retronic, Ultimate PC Interface adapters all have the proper hackfile on their respective sites. The Vision-dapter uses the same hackfile as the UPCI.

mr_me
Jzintv has a command switch that tells it how to find the file. jzintv --kbdhackfile=hackfile.kbd game.bin

Vindex
I would like to use the xbox one dpad. How can I do?
mr_me
Mapping the dpad for disc input will look something like this. JS0_HAT0_NW PD0L_J_NW JS0_HAT0_N PD0L_J_N JS0_HAT0_NE PD0L_J_NE JS0_HAT0_W PD0L_J_W JS0_HAT0_E PD0L_J_E JS0_HAT0_SW PD0L_J_SW JS0_HAT0_S PD0L_J_S JS0_HAT0_SE PD0L_J_SE Documentation for controller mapping is in kbdhackfile.txt that comes with jzintv. Vindex
This configuration does not work very well with the Xbox 360 controller dpad... Maybe there's something missing?
mr_me
Doesn't work very well or not at all? Do you have more than one game controller plugged in? Post your hackfile so we can see.

mr_me
Are your other button mappings working? JS0_ is the first game controller on the host system, and JS1_ is the second game controller on the host system. JS1_HAT0_ is the dpad of the second physical game controller and JS0_HAT0_ is the dpad on the first physical game controller. If you're using the second physical game controller, the dpad is mapped to the intellivision keypad. Edit: JS0_W would be a direction on the the left analog stick of the first physical game controller and JS0B_W would be a direction on the right analog stick of the first physical game controller. Buttons mapped in a Jzintv hackfile to an analog stick direction won't work properly. Jzintv automatically maps the first physical game controller's left thumbstick to disc directions.
