xybot67
I love these old ads. Thanks for sharing
gilsaluki
Love it. I had that Goldstar TV, used with my 8-bit for many years. Goldstar is now LG (Korean brand). Love the white Commodore Paddles too. A by-gone era indeed.
+cvga
Thanks for sharing. Missile Command and Defender for $7.99 each seems like a great deal!
WildBillTX
Thanks for sharing. Looks like this is from 1983-4, when Atari was discounting the 2600, and Commodore still was promoting the Vic-20. My brother had a Goldstar color 12" TV back then, worked good with the 2600 and C-64. Those budget Korean-made TV's like Goldstar and Emerson were popular in my college dorm. Those Certron cassettes... cheap crap. Edited February 25, 2017 by WildBillTX
BillyHW
I didn't check for dates, but I'm guessing this was 1981 or '82. The VHS tapes made my day.
Nukey Shay
Battlezone was released in Fall '83...and this is not the launch price, so it would be at least a couple months later.
BillyHW
I guess I'm off by quite a bit. For 1984 I would have expected to see C64 instead of Vic-20 and some Coleco or INTV. What's on the next page?
Nukey Shay
This is "lets dump this crap" pricing. Unsold Vic-20's were all over the place '83-'84.

schuwalker
I'm curious... in this ad they have computer games/accessories for sale. I know the particular Zayre store my mom used to take us shopping, there were nothing of the sort. Console stuff - yes.
chuckwalla
That's great. Loved the early 80's boom boxes - I practically slept with the Hitachi I got as a Birthday gift. Edited February 25, 2017 by chuckwalla

If you weren't growing up in the 80's you dont know the liberating feeling of being able to record TV shows and movies and watch them whenever you wanted to.
Zonie
Goldstar was always LG. LG actually means "Lucky Goldstar".
BillyHW
I remember when Goldstar was the cheapo brand.
4ever2600
Notice the Popeye box art isn't the same as the released version?
BassGuitari
Notice the Popeye box art isn't the same as the released version? A bunch of those Atari silver boxes look different too.
