Atarikid96
I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to mod an old, 4 port 5200 to be adaptable with AV and not have to use that stupid box. I know you would somehow have to hard wire the power supply to the system itself, I just want to know if it IS indeed possible.

You can order a power modification kit from here: https://console5.com/store/atari-5200-4-port-powered-switchbox-bypass-modification-kit.html Order the s-video and composite upgrade from here: http://electronicsentimentalities.com/Assembled%20Mods.html Instructions for the s-video and composite upgrade kit above are found at the websites where you order it from. The power mod isn't difficult, but the installation instructions at Console5 don't tell you much either. There is a post here at AtariAge where CPUWIZ did this with detailed pictures, but sadly on my computer (At least through Chrome now), the pics no longer display. Omega-TI
Sometimes more people find out about good and useful information like this if there is a PDF document that can be spread around. Atari 8Bit & 5200 Modification Info.pdf

+-^CrossBow^-
Doesn't explain the power mod unfortunately. Again the power mod isn't difficult by any means and the instruction on Console5's website are correct, but you have to know what is being discussed to follow along with it. The only issue I have with that guide posted is I don't believe it mentions the better place to tap the audio from. It has you take it straight from the Pokey, but I pull the audio from the south leg of one of the resistors directly east of the GTIA near the RF section I believe and I didn't see that listed in the procedures above.
