Wow! Portland, Seattle and Vancouver... the northwest seems to get a lot of retro gaming action. Wish something like this would wind its way farther east. I know there was one in the Carolinas recently but you'd think there would be something farther north as well. Maybe I've just not heard about them?

That's awesome. I wonder what seemingly random set of variables has made the Pacific Northwest the Mecca of retro gaming? Regardless, I envy that area.

I wonder if it had to do with the Microsoft crew and offshoots of the companies that made their home there in the 80s? The employees would stay in the area, they would have kids, and probably all were interested in atari/intellivision etc.

You know, now that you guys mention it, we were weirdly lucky up here in Vancouver back in the golden era of arcades as well. I commonly ran into machines back in the 80's that today are considered rare. I mean, Major Havoc, Quantum, Environmental Discs of Tron, Williams Blaster in the Duramold cab ..... I saw these regularly in our arcades.

Not to mention that slightly controversial arcade in Gastown.

And as another bit of proof, Ed Fries (of XBox and Halo 2600 fame) just discovered an Easter Egg in the 1977 Atari Starship arcade machine which "he'd ordered from a dealer in Vancouver, British Columbia"
