ijor Posted April 10, 2017 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Not everybody agrees that it is a myth, I would say that there is some controversy. And even Exxos agrees that the (so called) bad DMA chip has more chances to make problems. If you want to know, open the computer and check the part number of the DMA chip. I was hoping there was an easy software test that would grind away at the IO and report back if it found any checksum errors or whatnot. Doesn't happen with my 1040STFM. Edit: Id like to add that said STE has no issues reading from a real ACSI Supra drive.
