gilsaluki
I have good video via RF, But no Sound. I have swapped the Pokey and GTIA and the small RCA 6-pin chips. Question: can the 800XL sound be good through the monitor connector, yet still not be able to output through the RF Modulator (thus indicating a bad RF Mod)? Paul Westphal
Try the 4050. Video and sound circuits are on the left....
Simius
First check a TV system setup: BG/DK/I. Maybe the sound offset (6.5MHz instead 5.5MHz) is wrong.
gilsaluki
Try the 4050. Video and sound circuits are on the left.... Swapped out the 4050. Same thing. Video is good, but no sound. GTIA swapped, POKEY Swapped, 6-pin chip marked RCA swapped. Is it possible that my sound works with a monitor, but not through the RF Modulator? Roydea6
On a past post about poor or no sound the user replaced C20 and started getting sound.
Mark loves Stella
I had the same problem on an 800xl. When I replaced the CA358E and it resolved the sound issue.
Paul Westphal
There are also three black transistors ( with 3 legs each ) over on the video and audio side you may want to check. Edited April 29, 2017 by Paul Westphal
gilsaluki
I had the same problem on an 800xl. When I replaced the CA358E and it resolved the sound issue. I have swapped out the CA358E (short 8-pin chip). No dice. Thanks. Wondering. Is it possible sound can work through the monitor cable, but not through the RF Modulator? +kheller2
If you have sound through the A/V jack, but not the RF jack then your RF is bad, needs tuning L202? pot in the RF box, or the Audio feed to the RF unit is broken. Assuming your TV works with audio on channel 2/3 and you don't have some other audio input set for the TV.
Marius
Uk Pal in the netherlands (pal b) gives also pic but no audio. Someone here suggested something like that already here. Big chance the audio carrier is on the wrong frequency.
Mark loves Stella
For a band aid fix, you may be able to run the audio signal from the RF modulator to an external audio output. You can get the audio signal by connecting to the 2nd terminal from the left on the RF modulator.
