Spelunker: 820,590! Finished it up, but I did leave a few treasures behind, so the score is beatable.

 

 

So my question is...how does he get out with the treasure?

(jump like crazy when it goes white to get the harder treasures, even through the walls. By now you should have figured out you can go along the top of the screen - neato!)

(special rules on 1st post: play beginner C1, stop if you reach C4. score+1000pts per man left. Not too taxing, use diving board on 1st screens, on 2nd screens best to use the rope *both* ways, jump when it's fully extended. Hold L/R to use long jump to get over critters. To get up the steps jump from L to R but not too far onto them or you can't jump all the way back up to the van)

It's definitely one game that you can make progress on with regular play. The bit I wasted lots of men on yesterday I went straight past today and reached level 4 despite messing around and getting him stuck in the rocks (and no not in a hole) where he couldn't move!

Not a proud run as I didn't even get past the Ropes but still managed a lot more score than my last good run. Must have grabbed a lot of bonus points rather than lives. Last two lives lost on the elevator to elevator jump in Ropes which I probably will forego the next time as there are no vitals there anyway.

Does anyone think you can actually get all the items at the very end of level 2 - It seems to end the level when you get the first one/near them, I think once I did land first on the ledge and wonder if you can jump R to get the others, possibly they are for display only

You can get the left one, then jump to get the right one, the middle treasure then ends the level.

 

Got a bit further on the 4th stage, waiting for the flying boat thingy cost me a few men, I didn't get all the way down.

Already regretting that I didn't give it one more try You just can't bet on TRBB staying behind for more than half a day...

 

Same for me with the Shaft, but <400.000 this time, still don't know where I got so many points last time. At the time I still try to leave out areas that usually cost me too many lives in relation to points just to get to the end.

beamer and McKong - this game is really good! Round 10 will be a catch-up and improve score so more time to play then

 

I thought I was going to get to the end, adrenaline was pumping and got through to the Pyramids for the first time ever. Blew my last 4 lives trying to get down from a ledge to the blue platforms - not sure how to do this

Distracted by a visit to the Maker Faire today and now off to work, so no chance to put in another round before it ends, so congrats TRBB!

 

What a great game and what a technical achievement in 1983!

Sneaky trbb takes the win on the last day from Deteacher! Thanks to 3rd place slx for keeping it interesting too. I've enjoyed Spelunker a lot, pretty good game, the other (original) version looks the same but I did notice the death sound effect was different - need to play it more to see if there is anything else

Caverns of Khafka won by CaptainClassic was a great bonus game and Tree Surgeon is still fun despite being a prototype. The first screens are good, on the 2nd screens I guess the code was not finished. If you want to see all the damage start it on Advanced and just park your guy somewhere!

If you missed this round or want more time then in Round 10 there will be a "Catch-up and Improve Scores"
