vanadium
Hey all. I was gifted a second Lynx II last year which appeared to have splotches in the LCD, so recently I decided to do a couple of things: 1. Full capacitor replacement 2. McWill LCD replacement Makes sense, right? OK. Well, both the recap and the McWill replacement went great and tested successfully, but the issue persists. Here's a few images from the unit this afternoon after I finished and tested the unit: http://imgur.com/a/IwXeG http://imgur.com/a/I9FAs http://imgur.com/a/pvl0t Looking for opinions; there appear to be five distinct vertical lines that all glitching seems to emanate from (the BMX screen shows it most visibly). Those five lines are consistent and do not change their position, but does cause the exact same corruption in the same place when flipped; it's following the screen orientation. Those screens would look exactly the same no matter the orientation. So it immediately makes me wonder about the cartridge port. As for the cartridge port: No bent pins, touched them all with a small screwdriver to determine they're still springy, added some contact cleaner and took the cartridge in and out to make sure the contacts were hit. Now, the same California Games cartridge works fine in my other Lynx II with no video glitching, so it's not the cart itself. Everything else works great. Thank you in advance for any tips you might have! Edited May 8, 2017 by vanadium
RestoLynx
Wonder is it a timing issue with the clock? McWill is the one to ask on this one, he is the video king!
+karri
As the game works you can rule out the cartridge, Mikey and ram. What is left is Suzy and the driver chip for the LCD signals. I would first replace the driver chip and then Suzy from some broken Lynx.

Thank you in advance for any tips you might have! I had several LYNXs where the SUZY IC was broken, if the picture has distortion or wrong pixels. Mostly it was caused by overvoltage, if the zener diode was faulty. I prefer to do the SUZY IC first, then the MIKEY IC, IMO.
