Hit and Missile with no collision detection

I have a Hit and Missile and the collision detection doesn't work. How do I you fix it?

Hmm...try new batteries, mine works best when sitiing perfectly horizontal. After a minite or two works better.

Your hitting the targets right on the 0 with the tip and no XXXXXX juzt asking as have had mine new and played for 35 years on and off. Make sure all your connections are good I have had those wires fall off and had to resolder.

I just watched a video on youtube on how to fix these things. Looks like an arm with magnet in the white plastic box won't move. Have to do some soldering to get the wires out of the way.
