I don't mind using it as long as it produces the files I need. I can setup a template with the parameters the way I want it and work from there. I like aseprite but the copyright holder somewhat recently made it non-free software. If I find any more GIMP quirks in relation to producing images for use with JagStudio I'll report them back here for others to see. Syntax Error
im a space invader now ! i just wanted to end in beauty by saying im going to shut up about this b/c its clearly not clear yet , i had to export the file in gimp WITH color space and then without b/c the first time i got a compiler error but otherwise it worked so i dont really know and i have weird palettes like 110 or 150 entries while the init file states "16bit" (so i assume thats after conversion) but the most important thing i seem to have found is that spritesheets need frames that are "under" each other heh ... not being used to that , the other stuff i used can do horizontal or even block sheets with rows and colums its a messy vid but it shows this is not for the faint of heart ... so as i said, until im a bit more sure of what im doing or i have at least a level to display i think im gonna shut up about it and keep tinkering in silence Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/265885-rb-tutorial-6-tools-of-the-trade/page/2/#findComment-5489516 Share on other sites
+CyranoJ
You guys seem to enjoy overcomplicating things. Load in PSP6 or 7 and save. Load in XNVIEW and save. simplez. agradeneu
For 8 bit and 24 bit, aseprite is best. I only use gimp for converting to 4 bit or sorting the color palette. And then you need to switch off " write/store into color space blahbah" when exporting to bmp. 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/265885-rb-tutorial-6-tools-of-the-trade/page/2/#findComment-5489593 Share on other sites
SlidellMan
I just discovered FontStruct, which would be a great asset for homebrew development: FontStruct | Build, Share, Download Fonts Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/265885-rb-tutorial-6-tools-of-the-trade/page/2/#findComment-5531745 Share on other sites
