JaggingUK
Having read in an earlier thread that Orion was stopping professional games development and having read a few peoples messages about how brutal and hard it is out there to make games it made me think back to the days of the ZX Spectrum where people would make a game, take out an add in a gaming magazine and would send out a cassette when a cheque arrived on their doorstep. And now with the gaming industry bigger than Hollywood it all seems so different, however there are still indie games makers out there. If any of you get the chance look up a documentary that did the rounds at lots of film festivals, it's called, 'Indie Game - The Movie' and shows what difficulties individuals face when they are developing a game now a days. It's fascinating to watch the camera follow these guys from game inception to day one of release on games like Super Meat Boy and Fez. The big companies may have all the marketing money, but sometimes the little guy can come up with the goods and actually make a good profit off their hard work. Indie Game The Movie is a great watch for anyone who missed it when it was released a few years ago.
+Gray Defender
I agree with your points and I do my part to try to support the homebrew/indie developers out there. I have played both the games you mentioned, so richly developed, fun and extremely challenging (some might say impossible...) Thanks for mentioning Indie Game the movie I hadn't seen it but it looks really good here's the trailer. Also here's the website for purchasing the film: http://buy.indiegamethemovie.com/ And the original kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blinkworks/indie-game-the-movie

Can I get it on Prime or Netflix?
+Gray Defender
Great question, it looks like it is currently available to watch on both services. I will check it out soon.
JaggingUK
Hope you both enjoy it as much as I did - another good one to look up is on Youtube It's a TV doco from the 80s that follows Imagine and Ocean software on the run up to Christmas and shows the millions they made and how quickly it was all lost for one of them - the cameras are even there as one of the companies collapses.
