Added friends not showing up in profile?

Is there a delay to friends be added to your profile? Just curious as I recently had someone add me and while I show up on their profile they do not show up on mine. I never really gave it any thought in the past when people have added me as a friend or vice versa.

 

In my account settings I have it set-up this way:

 

• Show my friends in my profile
• Allow me to approve members before they're added as a friend

So in theory they don't need approved and should just show up right.

 

 

Or is the picture less generic icons that say stuff like "someone57876978" them and it is in processing state?
