The Mr. Video
I'm having trouble docking with a starbade in Star Raiders, I've followed the instructions in to manual but I can't seem to establish orbit with the starbase, am I doing something wrong?

You have to get quite close. When you have the starbase centered, keep cruising towards it, with velocity of 1-3. When you get close enough, it will start moving towards you. +David_P
Once in range, turn off engines and wait.

Hmm can you write out the steps you are following? Are you getting a 'docking aborted' message? Are you reducing speed to 0 when the bottom right lookslined up? This link has a pic of what the bottom right radar screen should look like: http://www.sonic.net/~nbs/star-raiders/docs/vi.html
Rybags
Range of 1-3 and velocity set to 0 and not moving the joystick. A common mistake can be getting too close. Also the space station needs to be near the centre crosshair. And if the sector comes under attack, doesn't that stop that station being able to do services? Xebec
Found a Youtube clip showing the docking https://youtu.be/3_VDM8nC9sM?t=3m19s Video starts at 3:19, "Orbit Established" at 3:34 You can see the Velocity of course in the bottom right, he approachs with a velocity of '3' (1 on keyboard?) and then after '0' a few seconds later docking is estabilshed. Hope this helps..

Xebec
Tried doing it exactly as it shows in the video and it still won't dock. Have all enemies been cleared from the sector? And have you used up a decent amount of fuel in case the base won't dock unless you really need fuel? (I forget if there is a requirement or not)

(I forget if there is a requirement or not) I'm pretty sure there are no enemies in the sector when I dock, also I'm prettu sure I don't need to be low on fuel to repair something. FifthPlayer
You have to be close enough to see six porthole windows in the starbase before you can dock successfully. Edited July 16, 2017 by FifthPlayer
The Mr. Video
You have to be able to see six porthole windows in the starbase before you can dock successfully. That's what I've been doing and still can't dock.
FifthPlayer
Press 0 to come to a full stop once the six windows appear. Don't move the stick.
The Mr. Video
Press 0 to come to a full stop once the six windows appear. Don't move the stick. Ah! so that's what I've been doing wrong, I've pressing 1 instead of 0. Thanks!
FifthPlayer
Also, you can dock with the starbase even with shields up. And there's no fuel restrictions- you can dock anytime.
