The Mr. Video
Hi, my Atari 1010 tape drive's been having problems with the play button, a plasic piece for the play button has snapped off and now the it would go limp and the 1010 won't be able to play cassette tapes. What's the best way to reattach the plastic piece?
adam242
That happened to my 1010 back in the day... what I ended up doing was heating a small nail with a candle and inserting into what was left of the button, effectively replacing the plastic 'finger' with a metal one. Wish I had a picture of this.
gilsaluki
Vouch for the heated nail through the button trip, it works. Did that on two of my past 1010s. As for new buttons, Best has them cheap. There are two types of 1010s, Sanyo and Chelco. If the buttons are ordered through Best E., be sure and get the right button for your model. RodLightning
If you have a Harbor Freight in your area, I recommend a product called HFT Quick Setting Epoxy. It's a clear resin in one tube and a hardening compound in another tube. I have had good luck with it on plastic repairs. JB Weld is also good as a substitute. Maybe try both the nail and some epoxy coating...
+therealbountybob
Just swap it with the not used pause key until you find a spare
